  • Patent number: 4972881
Abstract: A tack-in selvage forming apparatus for tacking in the end portion of a picked weft yarn to form a selvage structure in weaving a towel. The tack-in selvage forming apapratus is comprised of a tack-in needle which is controllably driven by a driving mechanism including a cylindrical grooved cam rotatable in timed relation to a main shaft of a loom. The grooved cam is formed at its periphery with generally annular shallow and deep cam grooves. The shallow cam groove is parallel with a plane perpendicular to the axis of the grooved cam, while the deep cam groove is curved relative to the same plane. A part of the shallow cam groove and a part of the deep cam groove is common and the same in depth. The shallow cam groove has a profile corresponding to a resting state of the tack-in needle, while the deep cam groove has a profile corresponding to a tack-in operational state of the tack-in needle. A cam follower drivingly connected to the tack-in needle is selectively put into the shallow and deep cam grooves.

  • Patent number: 4957144
Abstract: A tack-in system of an air jet loom, for forming a tack selvage at an edge section of a fabric. The tack-in system is comprised of a body of a tack-in device, which body is formed with a slit. The slit is located near an edge of an array of warp yarns. A weft yarn picked from a weft picking nozzle extends through the slit. The end section of the weft yarn picked and cut by a cutter is securely held in such a manner that at least a part thereof is located within the slit. A fluid jet nozzle is provided to eject a fluid jet from its opening which is located such that the fluid jet therefrom blows the weft yarn end section. The fluid jet from the fluid jet nozzle is so directed that the axis thereof crosses the cloth fell at an acute angle, thus securely pressing the weft yarn end section onto the cloth fell.

  • Patent number: 4538649
Abstract: The row of air guide members comprises a nozzle-mounted air guide member having around the air guide opening a plurality of air ejection holes, a first group of air guide members located downstream of the nozzle-mounted member and positioned between the nozzle-mounted member and the point at or about which the inboard boundary of the auxiliary air flow from each air ejection hole intersects the axis of the air guide channel of the row of the air guide members, and a second group of air guide members located downstream of the first group of air guide members. The air guide openings of the first group guide members are larger than the air guide opening of the nozzle-mounted member and gradually reduced in diameter with increase of distance from the nozzle-mounted member. The air guide openings of the second group members are identical to each other and to the air guide opening of the nozzle-mounted air guide member.

  • Patent number: 4441531
Abstract: A weft detaining device of a shuttleless loom, comprises a drum on which a weft yarn is wound predetermined times prior to a weft picking through a weft picking means, the drum being constituted by a plurality of separate and independent pieces, a support member on which the drum separate pieces are securely supportable, and a device for allowing the location of each drum separate piece to be movable relative to the support member so that the outer diameter of the drum is adjustable, thereby making possible changing a weft picking length by merely changing the location of each drum separate piece, without replacing the drum with the other drum having a different diameter or using any members to be mounted on the peripheral surface of the drum to adjust the outer diameter of the drum.

  • Patent number: 4418729
Abstract: A shuttleless loom weft detaining device comprises a drum around which a weft yarn is wound prior to its introduction to a weft inserting nozzle, the drum including a frustoconical section, a cylindrical section integral with the frustoconical section, a projecting section radially and outwardly projecting over the radial level of the cylindrical section, and a connecting section integral with the projecting section to connect the radial top level of the projecting section with the radial level of the cylindrical section and located to leave the cylindrical section between it and the frustoconical section, and apparatus for catching the weft yarn in association with the drum peripheral surface to detain a predetermined length of the weft yarn prior to a weft picking through the weft inserting nozzle, thereby maintaining generally constant the drawing-off resistance of the weft yarn from the drum every weft picking.

  • Patent number: 4397340
Abstract: A weft detaining device of a shuttleless loom, including a drum having a frustoconical section and a cylindrical section, a first catching member for catching the weft yarn on the drum in the vicinity of the border between the frustoconical and cylindrical sections for at least a period of weft pickings, a second catching member for catching the weft yarn on the drum for at least a period of the first time weft picking in sequential twice weft pickings and releasing its catching action to the weft yarn for at least a period of the second time weft picking of the sequential twice weft pickings, and a third catching member for catching the weft yarn on the drum cylindrical section for at least a period wherein the detaining of the weft yarn for the succeeding twice sequential weft pickings is completed, thereby enabling a so-called dual-pick pass weft insertion though the weft detaining device is of the drum type.
