Patent number: 9523300Abstract: An electronic control unit estimates the amount of sulfur accumulated in a filter for purifying PM and NOx based on the operating state of an engine. When an estimated value is equal to or greater than a predetermined determination value, a first regeneration procedure is executed, in which sulfur is released from the filter by raising the temperature of the filter up to a first predetermined temperature and lowering the exhaust air-fuel ratio. When predetermined conditions are met the second regeneration procedure is executed separately from the first regeneration procedure. In the second regeneration procedure, sulfur is completely released from the filter by raising the temperature of the filter up to a temperature higher than the first temperature and lowering the exhaust air-fuel ratio. The estimated value is reset upon completion of the second regeneration procedure.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2008Date of Patent: December 20, 2016Assignee: TOYOTA JIDOSHA KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventor: Hideyuki Handa

Patent number: 8281569Abstract: In an exhaust gas purification device for an internal combustion engine, unburned fuel components are not supplied to a catalyst to make the atmosphere around the catalyst lean during a first lean period, unburned fuel components are supplied to the catalyst to make the atmosphere around the catalyst rich during a rich period, and the supply of unburned fuel components to the catalyst is again stopped during a second lean period. The first lean period, the rich period, and the second lean period form a cycle. If the actual amount of unburned fuel components added to the catalyst is below a required addition amount when a cycle ends, the duration of the first lean period in a subsequent cycle is reduced.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2008Date of Patent: October 9, 2012Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hideyuki Handa, Yasuto Koshida

Publication number: 20100089040Abstract: An electronic control unit 6 estimates the amount of sulfur accumulated in a filter 35 for purifying PM and NOx based on the operating state of an engine. On condition that an estimated value Sx is equal to or greater than a determination value Smax, a first regeneration procedure is executed, in which sulfur is released from the filter 35 by raising the temperature of the filter 35 up to a temperature ? and lowering the exhaust air-fuel ratio is executed. When the number of times N of the execution of the first regeneration procedure after the execution of a second regeneration procedure is a determination number of times A or more, the second regeneration procedure is executed separately from the first regeneration procedure. In the second regeneration procedure, sulfur is completely released from the filter 35 by raising the temperature of the filter 35 up to a temperature ?(>?) and lowering the exhaust air-fuel ratio. The estimated value Sx is reset upon completion of the second regeneration procedure.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 2, 2008Publication date: April 15, 2010Applicant: TOYOTA JIDOSHA KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventor: Hideyuki Handa

Patent number: 6957527Abstract: A device for periodically estimating the temperature of an exhaust-gas purifying catalyst provided in the exhaust pipe of an internal combustion engine. The device includes first, second, third, and fourth estimation blocks. The first estimation block estimates the temperature of exhaust gases that are discharged from the combustion chamber, as a steady catalytic temperature under a steady operation of the internal combustion engine, based on operating conditions of the internal combustion engine. The second estimation block estimates a representative temperature of the interior wall of the exhaust pipe extending from the internal combustion engine to the catalyst, based on the estimated steady catalytic temperature. The third estimation block estimates a catalyst inflow exhaust-gas temperature that flows in the catalyst, based on the estimated steady catalytic temperature and the estimated representative temperature.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2004Date of Patent: October 25, 2005Assignee: Mitsubishi Jidosha Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Katsunori Ueda, Kenichi Nakamori, Ken Fujiwara, Hideyuki Handa

Patent number: 4446472Abstract: An electrophotographically information recording method of recording the external information on recording paper by forming the information as an electrostatic latent image on a charged photosensitive element and then by electrophotographically treating the electrostatic latent image. When the information can be introduced within the predetermined information introduction time, the recording operations is accomplished by the electrophotographic treatment subsequently to the introduction. When the information cannot be wholly introduced within the predetermined information introduction time, the electrophotographically treating operations excepting the formation of the electrostatic latent image on the photosensitive element and the feed of the recording paper are continued, so that these remaining operations of the formation of the electrostatic latent image and the feed of the recording paper are started immediately after the introduction of the information.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1982Date of Patent: May 1, 1984Assignee: Konishiroku Photo Industry Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hideaki Kato, Hideyuki Handa
