Abstract: Provided are a pen state detection circuit, a pen state detection system, and a pen state detection method that can improve estimation accuracy for a pen state in an electronic pen including at least one electrode. A pen state detection circuit acquires, from a touch sensor, a first signal distribution indicating a change in capacitance associated with approach of a first electrode and uses a machine learning estimator to estimate an instruction position or an inclination angle of an electronic pen from first feature values related to the first signal distribution. The first feature values include first local feature values related to a first local distribution corresponding to sensor electrodes in a number fewer than the number of arranged sensor electrodes exhibiting the first signal distribution.

  • Publication number: 20210323600
Abstract: On the opposite side to an output of a rotation shaft of an electric motor, a ventilation hole communicating between an electronic control unit (ECU) housing space and an electric motor housing space is formed to an end surface wall of a motor housing separating the respective housing spaces. The ventilation hole has a waterproof ventilation part that suppresses water passing but permits the passage of air and water vapor. This structure eliminated the influence of flying rocks and muddy water from the external environment, and suppresses for a long period of time the internal pressure fluctuation of the ECU housing space and the penetration of water into the housing space. Therefore, the internal pressure fluctuation of the housing space for the ECU and the penetration of water into the housing space for the ECU can be suppressed over a long period of time.

  • Patent number: 11137842
Abstract: A processor of a stylus according to the present disclosure detects a first signal supplied to a sensor electrode group in each frame. The processor determines whether the first signal represents a setting instruction of a local ID, and writes a value of the local ID specified by the setting instruction in a memory if the first signal is determined to represent the setting instruction. The processor repeatedly detects a second signal supplied to the sensor electrode group in each of one or more slots included in the frame. The processor compares values of a local ID included in the detected second signal and the local ID stored in the memory every time the processor detects the second signal, and transmits a first downlink signal to a sensor controller using an electrode if the values correspond with each other.

  • Publication number: 20210232239
Abstract: A stylus capable of bidirectionally communicating with a sensor controller includes a receiver that receives an uplink signal sent by the sensor controller, a controller that determines whether a signal having a predetermined waveform is to be continuously sent over a second time period or to be continuously sent over a first time period longer than the second time period, on the basis of the uplink signal, and a transmitter that continuously sends the signal having the predetermined waveform over the first time period or the second time period on the basis of the result of determination by the controller. As a result, the sensor controller can detect a burst signal from the stylus over a wide range in a sensor touch surface, to thereby reduce the possibility that the sensor controller may fail to detect the burst signal.

  • Patent number: 11054921
Abstract: A stylus is provided, which includes a core body, an electrode disposed adjacent to the core body, a transmitter that sends a downlink signal including switch information SW1 using the electrode, and a controller that determines whether the stylus is in contact state with an operating surface or the stylus is in hover state. In the contact state, the controller controls the transmitter to send the switch information SW1 at a first bit rate. In the hover state, the controller controls the transmitter to send the switch information SW1 at a second bit rate smaller than the first bit rate. A technical advantage includes lowering the possibility of a failure to receive downlink signals when the stylus is in hover state, even though the stylus sends the downlink signals with the same intensity as when the stylus is in contact state.

  • Publication number: 20210157421
Abstract: A position detecting sensor for use with an active stylus includes first electrodes arranged in a first direction, and second electrodes arranged in a second direction intersecting the first direction. The first electrodes and the electrodes are both formed in a mesh form. The first electrodes are located closer to an operating surface with which the active stylus comes into contact than the second electrodes. A width of each of the first electrodes in an arrangement direction of the first electrodes is different from a width of each of the second electrodes in an arrangement direction of the second electrodes. A signal transmitted from the active stylus and received by one of the second electrodes is less shielded by the first electrodes than in a case that the width of each of the first electrodes is same as the width of each of the second electrodes.
