  • Publication number: 20110173479
Abstract: A data processing apparatus according to the present invention is capable of writing video and/or audio data to a storage medium. The data processing apparatus includes: a power controller for controlling powering on or off; a signal processing circuit for generating data; and a drive section for writing the generated data to the storage medium. In response to a powering-off instruction, the power controller stops supplying power to the drive section but continues to supply power to the signal processing circuit and the power controller itself. Since hardware elements remain energized, they do not need to perform initialization operations when the apparatus is powered on. Similarly, corresponding software elements are also in an operable state, and therefore do not need to perform initialization processes. Therefore, the signal processing circuit can immediately start processing thereafter.

  • Patent number: 7808875
Abstract: A data recording apparatus automatically displays a GUI for suggesting the finalization process when the apparatus ejects a disk which has not been finalized. Since the user can eject the disk after he determines if he will make the apparatus perform the finalization process, the user, who does not fully understand the meaning of the finalization, even can decide whether he finalizes a recording medium with the DVD-R standard to enable the recording medium to be played in a device of a different standard.

  • Publication number: 20080301731
Abstract: A data processing apparatus for generating a screen image includes an obtaining section (75) operable to obtain externally data for generating a screen image, a first data storage section (80) operable to store the obtained data, a determination section (30) operable to determine whether a request for power on or standby of the apparatus is issued or not, a generation section (60) operable to generate a screen image by using the data stored in the first data storage section when it is determined by the determination section that the request for standby of the apparatus is issued, and a second storage section (50) operable to store the screen image generated by the generation section.
