  • Patent number: 4921452
Abstract: An hermetically sealed terminal construction having one or more terminal pin assemblies wherein inner and outer pin parts are interconnected by a fuse link surrounded by a protective capsule defining an expansion cavity, the capsule having a vent port closed by a blow-out plug, the terminal pin assemblies extending through and being hermetically sealed to sleeve forming parts of the supporting base, including a dielectric sealing member which covers the protective capsules, the blow-out plugs and contiguous portions of the adjoining pin parts, the blow-out plugs being adapted to be expelled from the protective capsules upon the build-up of pressure within the capsules caused by disintegration of the fuse links, thereby cutting off the flow of current through the terminal while maintaining the integrity of the hermetical seals by means of which the terminal pin assemblies are mounted to the terminal base.

  • Patent number: 4830630
Abstract: An hermetically sealed terminal construction having a terminal pin assembly wherein inner and outer pin parts are interconnected by a fuse link surrounded by a protective capsule defining an expansion cavity, the terminal pin assemblies extending through and being hermetically sealed to sleeves forming part of the supporting base, including a dielectric sealing member which covers the protective capsules and contiguous portions of the adjoining pin parts, the sealing member being adapted to fracture upon rupture of the protective capsules caused by disintegration of the fuse links, thereby causing the adjoining pin parts and contiguous areas of the sealing member to separate from the remainder of the terminal, thereby cutting off the flow of current through the terminal.

  • Patent number: 4480151
Abstract: A hermetically sealed terminal having improved leakage resistance, the terminal comprising a support member having a base with at least one annular opening therein and a pair of concentric sleeves associated with the opening and projecting outwardly from one side of the base, with an elongated terminal pin extending centrally through the sleeves, the terminal pin being secured to the support member by a molded dielectric sealing member bonded to the terminal pin and to the opposite surfaces of the base, integral portions of the sealing member filling the innermost sleeve and the annular space between the two sleeves and being bonded to the inner and outer surfaces of the sleeves to effectively increase the area of interface between the sealing member and the support member so as to inhibit the formation of leakage paths from one side of the terminal to the other due to thermal expansion and contraction of the parts.

  • Patent number: 4442770
Abstract: An improved pushrod for an impact printer or the like wherein the pushrod wire has a tip member at each end thereof, the outer ends of the tip members having a seat-forming, preferably conical, recess therein communicating with an underlying undercut cavity, a molded impact button being seated in the recess and filling the undercut cavity, the impact button having an outwardly projecting surface which is preferably flat. In a preferred embodiment the axial bore in the shank of the tip member communicates with the annular cavity and the undersurface of the impact button has a centrally disposed recess therein. The shanks of the tip members are preferably swaged to the pushrod wires at three or more angularly equal locations about the periphery of the shanks, the ends of the pushrod wires being roughened by grit blasting.

  • Patent number: 4356469
Abstract: A temperature responsive terminal pin construction having an aligned pair of terminal pin parts inserted in the opposite ends of a casing with the inner ends of the pin parts in spaced apart relation, a split ring collet surrounding the pin parts, the collet being axially displaceable under spring pressure from a first position of use in which the collet makes electrical contact with both pin parts to a second position in which the collet is out of contact with one of the pin parts, the collet being held in its first position by the nose of thermosensitive annular ring secured to the casing, the nose of the ring engaging an enlarged head on the collet. Excessive heating of the terminal pins will cause the nose of the thermosensitive ring to melt at a predetermined temperature to release the collet for axial movement. Coacting cam surfaces on the nose of the thermosensitive ring and the head of the collet act to urge the collet into tight electrical contact with the pin parts.

  • Patent number: 4130336
Abstract: A binding post terminal construction wherein the cylindrical body of the post terminates in an inwardly tapered annular shoulder, the end of the post having a conical recess therein, the post being divided into an opposing pair of tines by an arcuate slot, the arcuate slot cutting through the tapered shoulder and the conical recess to define a seat at the upper end of the post for receiving and positioning a straight length of lead wire to be inserted in the slot together with cam surfaces acting to bend the wire to conform to the configuration of the slot as the wire is displaced downwardly into the slot.
