  • Patent number: 7653101
Abstract: A semiconductor laser light emitting circuit includes a semiconductor laser diode emitting a laser light by modulating a current supplied thereto, a light intensity detection circuit that detects the laser light and generates a voltage, and a voltage-current conversion circuit converting a voltage into a current supplied to the laser diode. A S/H capacitance is provided to store electric charge and output a voltage to the voltage/current conversion circuit. A first operational amplifier is provided to output a first current charging the S/H capacitance. A rapidly charging circuit is provided to charge the S/H capacitance with a second current. The rapidly charging circuit terminates charging when the voltage is equal to or more than a second reference voltage.

  • Patent number: 7480320
Abstract: In a semiconductor laser driving device and method, a first current below an oscillation threshold current of a semiconductor laser is outputted to the laser invariably. A second current needed for light emission of the laser responsive to an input signal is outputted to the laser. A third current for controlling the laser such that a detected amount of emission light from the laser accords with a given value is outputted to the laser. A predetermined auxiliary current is outputted to the laser. An initialization operation is performed to detect luminescence characteristics of the laser, and a signal indicating a value of the second current derived from the detected luminescence characteristics is outputted. The third current is controlled so that an amount of light outputted by the laser receiving a sum of the first, second, third and auxiliary currents, accords with a predetermined amount.

  • Patent number: 7301976
Abstract: A semiconductor laser driving circuit includes a light amount detector, a frequency determiner, and an initialization circuit. The light amount detector detects an amount of light emitted by a laser diode, and outputs a first voltage corresponding to the amount of light. The frequency determiner determines a frequency for determining a time period of a detecting operation to detect differential quantum efficiency of the laser diode. The initialization circuit performs an initialization operation to detect differential quantum efficiency of the laser diode with a variation of the time period of the initialization operation according to the frequency determined by the frequency determiner.
