    Abstract: A roof is opened and closed by utilizing a trunk lid for opening and closing a trunk room. The trunk lid can be raised and lowered while it is held substantially horizontal. The trunk lid is provided with a roof slide unit for moving the roof in longitudinal directions.When opening the roof in a closed state, the trunk lid is raised to a position behind the roof, and the roof is moved rearwardly by the roof slide unit to be supported by the trunk lid. Then, the trunk lid is lowered down to a position to close the trunk room. This brings an end to an operation of opening the roof. A reverse procedure may be taken for closing the roof.

    Abstract: A coating apparatus for coating an object with a coating material in a coating direction includes a holder adapted to be mounted on a controllable support member, a shaft slidably supported in the holder, and a head member mounted on the shaft for angular movement in a direction transverse to the coating direction, the head member having a sliding surface for slidable contact with the object and a coating material outlet positioned forwardly of the sliding surface in the coating direction. In another embodiment, the head member has sliding legs for sliding contact with the object at front and rear positions in the coating direction, at least one of the sliding legs having a recess defined therein to provide a gap between the sliding leg and the object, the gap having a prescribed width in a direction transverse to the coating direction.

    Abstract: A robot having a robot arm swingable from a position outside a car body conveying line to the line and movable in the directions of length, width and height of the car body is provided with a support frame carrying a jig for holding the window glass. The frame is tiltably mounting on the arm via a tilting shaft. A first detector is mounted on the frame for detecting a deviation the car-width direction of the jig with respect to the window portion. A pair of second detectors are provided on the frame at positions which are symmetrical with respect to the car width direction center line of the jig for detecting deviations in the plane of the window opening. First, deviation detected by the first detector is corrected by moving the jig in the car width direction. Then, deviation in tilt detected by the second detectors is corrected by tilting the jig. Finally, deviation in height detected jointly by the second detectors is corrected by raising or lowering the jig.

    Abstract: An expandable and contractable robot arm is vertically provided on a machine base through a first universal joint, with X and Y horizontal axes being defined passing through the center of rotation of the joint crossing each other at right angles and a vertical Z axes being defined as a longitudinal axis of the arm passing through the center of rotation of the joint. A pair of driving sources are provided on the machine base and connected to the arm for causing the arm to incline in the X axis direction along an X-Z plane define by the X and Z axes and in the Y axis direction along a Y-Z plane defined by the Y and Z axes. A tool attaching plate is mounted on the upper end of the arm through a second universal joint having its center of rotation positioned on the Z axis. A parallel ruler mechanism is provided between the attaching plate and the machine base so as to keep the posture of the attaching plate constant.

    Abstract: A workpiece preset jig arrangement for a welding apparatus. The welding apparatus has an apparatus body, a welding jig mechanism on the body and clamps on the welding jig mechanism for clamping plural component parts for constituting a workpiece so that the workpiece may be welded to another workpiece by the welding jig mechanism. The preset arrangement includes a preset arrangement body positioned adjacent the welding apparatus body, a preset jig mechanism provided on the arrangement body, and preset clamps mounted on the preset jig mechanism for clamping the plural component parts. The preset jig mechanism is moveable between a set position facing the welding jig mechanism and a preset position away from the set position and the welding jig mechanism. The set position is such that the plural component parts may be transferred from the preset jig mechanism to the welding jig mechanism simply by releasing the clamps on the preset jig mechanism and engaging the clamps on the welding jig mechanism.
