  • Publication number: 20050070387
Abstract: A hollow cylindrical pulley body 5 is carried rotatably by a hollow cylindrical shaft member 11. A support rod 8 is inserted in the shaft member 11, and the shaft member 11 is elastically supported to the support rod 8 through an elastic body 10. The elastic body 10 is provided within a quarter of the periphery of the support rod 8 that is located, when viewed along the axis of the shaft member 11, forward of the line of action of a radial shaft load on the shaft member 11 with respect to the direction of rotation of the pulley body 5. With this configuration, when the drive belt 3 deviates to one side, the pulley body 5 is immediately angularly moved so that it is inclined with a level difference with respect to the direction of the radial shaft load and is positioned obliquely relative to the drive belt 3. In this manner, a force of compensating for the deviation of the drive belt 3 is produced to avoid its wobbling.

  • Publication number: 20050009657
Abstract: A pulley body 5 is provided at its both sides with power transmission members 6, 6. When a flat belt 3 becomes misaligned relative to the center of the pulley body 5 and comes into contact with one of the power transmission members 6, a running force of the flat belt 3 is utilized to displace the pulley body 5 diagonally relative to the flat belt 3, thus producing a force for returning the flat belt 3 to its original state.

  • Publication number: 20050003916
Abstract: In a belt drive system 20 for transmitting torque at a crankshaft 11 of an automotive engine 10 to a supercharger (engine accessory) 130a, an output pulley unit 40 formed of a first flat pulley 50 and a second flat pulley 60 is coupled to the rotational shaft 131a of the supercharger 130a. A flat belt 70 entrained between the output pulley unit 40 and the crank pulley 30 of the crankshaft 11 is shifted from the first flat pulley 50 to the second flat pulley 60 or vice versa by a speed ratio selector 80. The rotational shaft 131a can thereby be driven into rotation with the switching between a high speed ratio during acceleration and a low speed ratio during constant speed cruise. As a result, the supercharger 130a can bring out its capability into full play without using parts involving increases in weight, cost and power consumption, such as a solenoid-operated clutch, and concurrently suppress the deterioration of fuel economy.

  • Patent number: 6598719
Abstract: A belt-type one-way clutch is arranged so that a case is assembled with a flat pulley so as to rotate around the central axis of the flat pulley, and that a flat belt is looped between a working surface of a rocking member supported for rocking motion by a shaft member held at both ends in shaft bores of the case and a working surface of the flat pulley, and that the rocking plate biased from a leaf spring presses one span of the flat belt to place an initial tension on the flat belt. Both the ends of the shaft member are held in the shaft bores of the case via respective bushes to suppress stress. Accordingly, larger torque can be transmitted despite use of aluminum alloy as material of the case.

  • Patent number: 6220414
Abstract: A pulley with a built-in one-way clutch, the type of which has sprags tilting in a direction to wedge between inner and outer rings while being guided on respective riding lands of a cage by pressing of respective leaf springs, is mounted on an alternator shaft of an alternator to which torque of a crank shaft of a vehicle engine rotating together with slight variations in angular velocity is transmitted through a power transmission belt. In the mounting, a tilting force acting on a contact point at which each sprag contacts the corresponding riding land to tilt the sprag in the wedging direction is set larger than a frictional force between the sprag and the riding land acting on the contact point. According to this setting, the sprag can be tilted in the wedging direction regardless of the frictional force between the sprag and the riding land, thereby eliminating a locking failure within the high engine speed range.

  • Patent number: 6035985
Abstract: A flat belt 6 is wound around between an annular friction surface 2 at a periphery of a first rotatable member 1 and an arc-like friction surface 4 of a rocking portion 3 of a second rotatable member 5 which is relatively rotatably supported on the first rotatable member 2, and an initial tension is applied to the flat belt 6. With relative rotation movement between the rotatable members 1 and 5 in a locking or free direction, the rocking portion 3 is rocked around a rocking axis Q by the flat belt 6. By virtue of such rocking movement of the rocking portion 3, the tension of the flat belt 6 is increased up to a higher value than the initial tension or decreased down to a lower value than the initial tension. This permits connection or disconnection of the transmission of torque between the rotatable members 1 and 5 in dependence on the relative rotational direction of the rotatable members 1 and 5.

  • Patent number: 5695031
Abstract: A one-way clutch operates stably even while an engine is revolving at a speed that tends to resonate the springs of the clutch. The clutch has an outer ring formed with a plurality of cam surfaces on its inner periphery at equal intervals in the circumferential direction. An inner ring mounted in the outer ring has a cylindrical outer surface that faces the cam surfaces. Wedge-like spaces are defined between the cam surfaces an the cylindrical outer surface. Rollers and springs are mounted in the wedge-like spaces so that the rollers are biased by the springs toward narrower ends of the wedge-like spaces. The springs are made up of at least two different kinds of springs having different spring constants. Thus, even if one of at least two kinds of springs should resonate, the other springs will reliably keep the rollers locked between the cam surfaces and the cylindrical surface or move them to unlocked position. The life of the clutch is thus increased.

  • Patent number: 5676225
Abstract: In a belt transmission device in which rotating inertia torque of a rotor of an alternator is avoided, by a one-way clutch, from being inversely transmitted to a crank shaft of an engine, the one-way clutch is composed so as to effectively respond to slight variation in angular velocity of the crank shaft to prevent a mis-locking, thereby preventing a slip of a transmission belt and extending a belt life. To attain this purpose, an angle of operational delay of the outer roller type one-way clutch until the one-way clutch is switched from the freed state to the locked state between a driving-side outer race and a driven-side inner race is set to be smaller than a specified angle of displacement of slight variation in angular velocity to be transmitted to the outer race in a high-rpm region of the engine.

  • Patent number: 5665018
Abstract: In a belt transmission device for preventing a slip of a belt, the belt is wound between a crank pulley of an engine and an alternator pulley on an alternator shaft connected to an alternator as an auxiliary for making belt transmission. The alternator pulley is attached to the alternator shaft through a one-way clutch for connecting the alternator pulley and the alternator shaft only at the time of increase in angular velocity of a crank shaft. A centrifugal clutch which becomes engaged by the increase in centrifugal force accompanied with rotation of the alternator shaft is arranged in parallel with the one-way clutch. When the angular velocity is small, the centrifugal clutch is disconnected but only the one-way clutch is connected. When the angular velocity becomes larger than an allowable frequency of the one-way clutch, the centrifugal clutch operates to block the function of the one-way clutch.

  • Patent number: 5181888
Abstract: A belt driving system having at least one roller for adjusting creep within a plurality of rollers. Creep detecting means provided at one end of the creep adjusting roller is rotated by torque of a flat belt in contact with the creep detecting means. Biasing means for biasing the flat belt toward the creep detecting means and roller-end displacing means for converting the torque of the creep detecting means to displacement of the end of the creep adjusting roller toward a predetermined direction so that the flat belt is moved to the direction contrary to the creep caused by the biasing means are provided. When the flat belt creeps, the creep contrary to the original creep is caused by the roller-end displacing means, and thus the original creep is compensated. Consequently, stable running of the flat belt is obtained and clear pictures of the electrophotographic machine can be also obtained.
