Abstract: An autoprogrammer is provided for a television receiver capable of receiving conventional analog (NTSC) channels and DTV (8VSB) channels. First, conventional analog channels are identified and then skip channel data for each of the channels is stored in a memory. Subsequent executions of the autoprogramm function map DTV channels. Skip channel data is entered in the memory for these additional DTV channels. Mapping DTV channels occurs without deletion or overwrite of previous channel mapping information. Additionally information is stored in the skip channel memory giving antenna location for mapped DTV stations. DTV autoprogramming can be carried out at different channel positions.

Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for controlling a device by a remote controller. A receiving unit receives a first signal emitted by the remote controller and converts the received signal into a data stream. A communication medium carries the data stream from the receiving unit. A transmitting unit receives the data stream from the communication medium and converts the received data stream into a second signal compatible with the device.

The integrated EPG data is then output and displayed to the TV receiver 5.

Simultaneously, an audio signal is processed based on the information from the sensor so that an audio image may be formed at a normal position corresponding to the displayed image.

Abstract: In a television equipped with an image control apparatus, when a signal reception condition is deteriorated, a poor image is not displayed on the television screen by reproducing saved image data. The image control apparatus is arranged by a receiver for receiving a signal including image data, a detecting device for detecting disturbance of the; signal received by the receiver, a memory for saving the image data included in the signal received by the receiver, and a display controller for controlling display of the image data on a display unit. That image data saved in the memory is read out on the detecting device detecting the disturbance of the signal and is displayed, while the disturbance of the signal is continued.

Abstract: A method for entering channel representative information provided by a broadcasting signal that has been received by a television signal receiving apparatus and setting a plurality of channels in response thereto is disclosed. The method includes a first step for initiating channel setting by a CPU contained in a television signal receiving apparatus in response to an initiating signal; a second step for setting a start channel number in a counter; a third step for selecting a channel from the broadcast signal in accordance with the channel number in the counter; a fourth step for judging whether the selected channel is an active channel; a fifth step for extracting an information signal from the selected channel if the selected channel has been judged active in the prior step; and a sixth step for writing information represented by the information signal and the channel number of the selected channel to a memory.

Abstract: A video signal receiving system having a plurality of video signal receiving apparatuses wherein use of a remote commander for one of the plurality of video signal receiving apparatuses allows a user to remotely control others of the plurality of video signal receiving apparatuses. Additionally, if such remote control is not direct control but composite control that requires control by a microcomputer, use of the above-mentioned remote commander allows the user to perform the composite control over the above-mentioned other video signal receiving apparatuses without adding necessary composite control capabilities to the other video signal receiving apparatuses.

Abstract: In a television receiver having a channel skip function capable of skipping a channel on the basis of skip flag data stored in a memory, when an automatic add key is depressed, skip flag data of a channel through which a television signal is received is automatically set to a predetermined value so as to enable the user to operate the television receiver more conveniently.
