Abstract: In an eyeglass lens grinding apparatus, a material and a process condition of an eyeglass lens to be processed is input. A grinding wheel for grinding the lens is rotated at a variable rotational speed. That is, the lens is processed while variably changing the rotational speed of the grinding wheel in accordance with a preset value of the rotational speed of the grinding wheel based on the input material or a process condition of the lens. The processing, time period can be shortened and the quality of the process face can be improved.

Abstract: In a lens grinding apparatus, shape data of an eyeglass frame and layout data of an eyeglass lens for the eyeglass frame are input. Edge positions of front and rear surfaces of the eyeglass lens are measured on the basis of the input data. The position variation information of the front and rear surfaces of the lens with respect to a radius vector is input. An inclination angle of a finishing grinding wheel is stored. Edge positions after a finishing process are calculated on the basis of the measured edge positions, the input position variation information, and the inclination angle of the finishing grinding wheel. A chamfering grinding wheel for chamfering edge portions of a finish-processed eyeglass lens is controlled on the basis of the edge positions obtained by the edge position calculation. A chamfering process is easily performed, and particularly chamfering is uniformly performed.

Abstract: An eyeglass lens grinding machine for grinding the periphery of a lens to fit into an eyeglass frame includes a lens rotating section which holds and rotates the lens to be processed, a configuration data inputting section for entering the configuration data on the eyeglass frame or a template therefor, a layout data inputting section for entering data to be used in providing a layout of the lens corresponding to the eyeglass frame, a processing data calculating section for calculating processing data on the basis of the data entered by the configuration data inputting section and the layout data inputting section, a rotational speed varying section which, in at least a portion of the grinding process controls variably the rotational speed of the lens rotating section in accordance with the amount of processing as relative to the angle of rotation, and a control section for controlling to grind the lens on the basis of the processing data obtained by the processing data calculating section.

Abstract: An automatic lensmeter for measuring optical characteristics of a lens to be examined is disclosed. The automatic lensmeter includes a display for displaying thereon an alignment target, first and second calculation devices for converting a shift between the optical center of the lens to be examined and a measurement optical axis into a prism power and a deviation respectively, and device for forming the alignment target at a predetermined position, whereby highly accurate alignment can be attained and accurate marking can be readily obtained.

Abstract: An automatic lensmeter according to the present invention is used for accurately measuring optical characteristics of a lens to be examined. The automatic lensmeter incorporates a mode change-over switch for switching to an addition diopter measurement mode, memory means for storing cylindrical diopter of a measured far-vision area of the lens, calculation means for calculating a difference between the cylindrical diopter measured in the addition diopter measurement mode and the cylindrical diopter of the far vision portion, and display means for indicating a calculated result of the calculation means thereon.
