  • Patent number: 5087170
Abstract: A rotary compressor of the invention comprises an oil separating portion and an oil collecting portion located adjacent one end of a rotary shaft closely to a motor. An oil is separated through the oil separating portion and collected in the oil collecting portion in which the one end of the rotary shaft is submerged to lubricate a third bearing. The oil separating portion serves to separate oil mist which flows with gas flow. The one end of the rotary shaft is submerged in the oil as collected in the oil collecting portion under the influence of gravity to lubricate the bearing. This arrangement provides stable lubrication of the one end of the rotary shaft. The bearing is, thus, highly reliable while the rotary compressor is running at any speeds. Also, vibrations of the shaft can substantially be reduced particularly when the rotary compressor runs at a high speed.

  • Patent number: 4357132
Abstract: A fixed scroll and an orbiting scroll each having an end plate and a wrap perpendicular to the end plate and having a mirror-like surface at the forward end are brought into intimate contact with each other such that the mirror-like surface of the wrap and the end plate of one scroll member are brought into sliding contact with the end plate and the mirror-like surface of the wrap of the other scroll member, respectively, to define fluid pockets between the two scroll members. The orbiting scroll is driven by a motor to move in orbiting movement relative to the fixed scroll to compress the fluid in the fluid pockets by gradually reducing the volume of the fluid pockets.

  • Patent number: 4343599
Abstract: A scroll-type compressor constituted by a stationary scroll and a revolving scroll, and an electric motor for causing a revolving motion of the revolving scroll are disposed in a closed container. The scroll-type compressor has openings which are adapted to permit fluid compression pockets between two scrolls to be communicated with the space inside the closed container when the pressure in the pockets have been increased to a predetermined pressure intermediate between the suction and discharge pressures, so that the pressure in the closed container may be maintained at the same level as the above-mentioned predetermined pressure. The bottom part of the closed container constitutes an oil well where the lubricating oil is stored. This oil well is connected to the suction side of the compressor through an oil feed passage constituted by a capillary tube, so that the oil is fed to the compressor due to the pressure difference between the space inside the closed container and the inlet side of the compressor.

  • Patent number: 4216661
Abstract: In a gas pressure increasing system for increasing the pressure of a refrigerant gas or air having a scroll compressor, a condenser, a pressure reducing means and an evaporator or a scroll compressor and a gas cooler, an exhaust gas released from the scroll compressor after having its pressure increased by the scroll compressor itself is cooled and expanded to reduce its pressure to an intermediate pressure level to produce a gas of an intermediate pressure having a cooling capability. The gas of the intermediate pressure is used to provide a force for axially sealing an orbiting scroll member of the scroll compressor as well as to cool the scroll compressor and a motor.
