  • Patent number: 6224658
Abstract: To provide a Thiobacillus thiooxidans growth inhibitor, a cement composition, and a cement structure which are capable of inhibiting effectively growth of Thiobacillus thiooxidans not only in the neutral pH range but also in the acidic pH range of 4 or below, of which active component metal ions are sufficiently prevented from being dissolved and released when contained in a cement structure, and of which effect can be maintained for a prolonged period of time. The inhibitor contains a first component selected from the group consisting of nickel phthalocyanine powders, powders of a nickel phthalocyanine derivative, and mixtures thereof, and a second component selected from the group consisting of tungsten powders, powders of a substantially water-insoluble tungsten compound, a water-soluble salt of tungstic acid turning to substantially water-insoluble when reacted with cement, and mixtures thereof.

  • Patent number: 6159281
Abstract: The present invention provides a deterioration inhibitor for concrete or mortar which does not pollute water and which, in a small amount, can prevent the deterioration of concrete or mortar due to sulfur oxidizing bacteria for a long time, and also provides a method of inhibiting the deterioration of concrete or mortar which uses the deterioration inhibitor. A phthalocyanine compound is an effective component of the deterioration inhibitor for concrete or mortar. In the method of inhibiting the deterioration of concrete or mortar, the phthalocyanine compound is added to concrete or mortar.

  • Patent number: 5695608
Abstract: A moisture-proof paper sheet comprising a moisture-proof coating layer formed on a paper sheet substrate and comprising (a) a moisture-proof, film-forming synthetic resin (for example, carboxyl-modified SBR resin), (b) plate crystalline phyllosilicate compound particles with an average size of 5 to 50 .mu.m and an aspect ratio of 5 or more and (c) a moisture-proofness-enhancing agent, for example, urea-formaldehyde condensation reaction products, organoalkoxysilane compounds, or polyamidepolyurea compounds, has an enhanced resistance to water vapor permeation and, after use, the waste moisture-proof paper sheet can be easily re-pulped and recycled.

  • Patent number: 5668244
Abstract: A liquid polyester obtained by reacting a cyclic acid anhydride (A) containing at least 10 mol % of one of specific cyclic acid anhydrides with an epoxy compound (B) in a cyclic acid anhydride (A):epoxy compound (B) molar ratio of 10:8-10:12, can be applied with a conventionally generally used film-forming machine such as a roll coater or a printing machine, can easily give a film-forming material such as a solvent-free coating composition or ink and a curable liquid resin for use as an adhesive, is a low-temperature curing liquid polyester useful as a compatibilizer, a surface-tension modifier, a pigment dispersing agent and a metal chelating agent, and is curable in air in the presence of a relatively small amount of a catalyst.
