  • Patent number: 4054024
Abstract: The present invention relates to an open-end spinning system and more particularly to a method and an apparatus for stopping and starting the spinning operation of the open-end spinning system in such a way that the end portion of the spun yarn of the previous spinning may be used as it is as the piecing-up end yarn for the following spinning operation. The apparatus of the present invention, includes means for positively braking the combing roller for concurrently and suddenly stopping the rotation of the combing roller and the feed roller and means for taking the end portion of the spun yarn out of the spinning rotor, maintaining the taken out portion in a deflected state with the end of the yarn disposed within a spinning tube, and releasing the yarn at the restart of the spinning operation so that said end portion may be injected into the spinning rotor.

  • Patent number: 4022011
Abstract: The invention relates to a yarn piecing method and apparatus for an open-end spinning machine. According to the method of the present invention, the rotor is braked when the yarn breaks for reducing its rotational speed, while the feed roll which has stopped its rotation is rotated for a short time, so that the fiber of short length unfit for yarn piecing is supplied into the rotor. The supplied fiber is discharged from the rotor, with dust and dirt collected inside the rotor, by a jet of compressed air supplied from an air compressor. The braking force applied to the rotor is then released and the end of the sliver is supplied into the rotor as the latter is accelerated to a number of revolutions suited for yarn piecing. Then, the yarn take-up operation is started again and the speed of the rotor and that of the package are increased to those corresponding with the normal spinning.

  • Patent number: 3973382
Abstract: This invention relates to a yarn guide device for an open-end spinning frame, wherein said yarn guide device comprises a navel with a yarn guide opening arranged around the rotational axis of the rotor, and a guide roller with a yarn contact surface positioned substantially on an extension of the rotational axis of the rotor. The spun yarn is taken out through the navel substantially along the rotational axis of the rotor and is deflected for the first time as it passes along the guide roller.
