    Abstract: A detection target voltage is divided by a voltage divider circuit wherein a large number of resistor circuits, each of which is formed by a plurality of resistors being connected in parallel, are connected in series, and the voltage is detected. The output of a multiple voltage detector circuit formed of an operational amplifier, and the like, connected to three arbitrary places in the voltage divider circuit is input into a CPU twice, when the switch is in an on-state and when it is in an off-state. The CPU, based on the two measured voltages, can determine that trouble has occurred when there is, for example, trouble such as a short circuit or disconnection of a resistor of the resistor circuits related to the places connected to the three places in the voltage divider circuit.

    Abstract: In the case where a magnetic transfer process is used to record a specific magnetic pattern during the magnetic disk manufacturing process, a read/write tester for conducting a glide height test and a read/write test and a particle testing means are provided at the front section of a magnetic transfer device. The tester records a specific magnetic pattern onto a magnetic disk in a magnetic transfer method. An optical testing device, a read/write tester for conducting a glide height test, and a read/write test in sampling are provided at the rear section of the device. This enables the detection of consecutive disk abnormalities caused by particles, which are adhered a master disk or put between the magnetic disk and the master disk. A transfer quality control device collects the results of the respective tests, so that the quality can be controlled using the results. Accordingly, the present invention assures the desired quality of a magnetic disk produced after transfer.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for transmitting signals on a transmission line, the transmission line having a DC current flowing therethrough and having a plurality of terminals connected thereto in a multidrop fashion. Each of the terminals is capable of drawing a portion of the DC current. A signal is transmitted on the transmission line by varying the portions of the DC current drawn by the terminals. When the signal is not being transmitted the total amount of the DC current drawn by the terminals from the transmission line is maintained at a value smaller than an average amount of the DC current drawn by the terminals from the transmission line when the signal is being transmitted.
