  • Patent number: 7952915
Abstract: A novel element capable of simply controlling an in-plane rotational motion of a core (a rising spot of a magnetization) generated in the center of a ferromagnetic dot made by forming a ferromagnetic material into a nanosized disk shape is provided. In addition, a binary information memory element using a core, including a ferromagnetic dot, made of a disk-shaped ferromagnetic material, with a magnetic structure of a magnetic vortex structure, and a current supplier for supplying an alternating current with a predetermined alternating current in the radial direction of the ferromagnetic dot is provided. In the case where the frequency of the current resonates with the intrinsic frequency of the ferromagnetic dot, it is possible to rotate the core in the plane of the dot. Since the core leaks a magnetic field, a microscopic actuator such as a motor can be obtained by using this element. Furthermore, supplying a current having a density not less than a predetermined value reverses the core.

  • Patent number: 6521504
Abstract: There is provided a method of fabricating a semiconductor device, including the steps of (a) forming a first conductivity type base region in a second conductivity type collector region by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), (b) forming an emitter region in the base region by implanting second conductivity type impurities into the base region by MBE; (c) forming a second conductivity type amorphous layer on the emitter region by MBE, and (d) forming an emitter contact region by causing the second conductivity type amorphous layer to grow in solid phase. The method makes it possible to establish not only a base region but also an emitter region in ambient temperature growth by means of an MBE apparatus. Herein, the emitter region has a shallow depth and uniform impurities content by implanting antimony (Sb) into a region with a substrate being applied a voltage directly in an MBE apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6523125
Abstract: To provide an information handling system and a method of controlling the same which allows the state of the system to be saved without destructing other user data on an external storage device. When a predetermined event occurs, the system saves hibernation information in a hibernation information storing area on a hard disk. A hibernation managing information storing area is provided in the outermost cylinder of the hard disk. A boot sector already exists in the outermost cylinder. Therefore, the hibernation managing information is written in the outermost cylinder after the boot sector has been sheltered to the hibernation information storing area. After such series of processes have been completed, the system shifts to a hibernation mode. On the other hand, when power feeding to the system is resumed, the hibernation information is read out to check whether or not the system was in the hibernation mode, etc.

  • Patent number: 5662742
Abstract: In an Si-MBE equipment, a vapor deposition equipment or the like, electrodes for measuring solid source resistance are disposed on both sides of the solid source, thereby being capable of monitoring the source resistance from the exterior of the equipment using those electrodes. In this situation, the resistance corresponding to the limit of the amount of its use is found in advance, thereby knowing timing of exchanging the solid source and also of previously preventing the hearth from being damaged due to unexchange of the source.

  • Patent number: 5455399
Abstract: A switch device of reduced thickness is provided for use in motor vehicles or the like in which a switching element in a casing is operated with an operating knob. Such a switch device can be assembled with ease and is stable in the operation of the switching element. Such a switch device may be installed both on the right side and on the left side, while employing one and the same casing, and is therefore low in manufacturing cost. In the switch device, a switching element is provided inside a casing, and is operated with an operating knob provided on the outer surface of the casing. The switching element is secured to the back of the circuit board by soldering its fixing terminals on the side of the surface of the circuit board, and a driven part of the switching element, which is operated with the operating knob, is stuck out on the side of the surface of the circuit board through an opening formed in the latter.
