  • Publication number: 20050232484
Abstract: A image processing device has a reading unit, a graphics area extraction unit, a writing area extraction unit, a character string extraction unit and an association unit. The reading unit reads a document. The graphics area extraction unit extracts a graphics area from the document read by the reading unit. The writing area extraction unit extracts a writing area from the document read by the reading unit. The character string extraction unit extracts a character string presented in the graphics area. The association unit associates information of the writing area with the graphics area based on the character string extracted by the character string extraction unit.

  • Publication number: 20040205040
Abstract: An experience-knowledge information processing apparatus that manages knowledge acquired from personal experiences so as to reuse the knowledge easily. Preferably, when information about knowledge acquired from a personal experience is inputted by a client, a server performs a process for associating the knowledge with an activity where the experience has been gained, and associating the knowledge with a knowledge creation process expressing a process for creating the knowledge on the basis of the description of the questionnaire. Thus, the knowledge information associated thus is accumulated in an experience-knowledge database. A two-dimensional table indicating the total number of pieces of knowledge with activities and knowledge creation processes in columns and rows, a knowledge propagation state graph, or the like, is displayed and outputted by a process of an experience-knowledge processing portion based on the information accumulated in the experience-knowledge database.

  • Publication number: 20040078193
Abstract: In the invention, words in f-structure are represented as illustrations that can be understood by any persons regardless of what languages they use, whereby it is made possible to make the f-structure completely language-independent representation. Accordingly, two translation systems of a translation system from one language L into f-structure using illustration representation and a translation system from f-structure using illustration representation into language L are simply constructed, whereby communication support among persons using every language can be provided.

  • Publication number: 20030158723
Abstract: A parsing section applies parsing processing to each of sentences, which is a target sentence and outputs parsing result candidates such as candidates of a modification relation of the sentence. A semantic analysis section performs semantic analysis processing on the target sentence and outputs semantic analysis result candidates such as candidates of a case frame of the sentence. A semantic analysis result determining section has a user interface for presenting the semantic analysis result candidates to a user so as to allow the user to select a correct semantic analysis result. A semantic analysis result is determined by the selection of the user. A parsing result determining section determines a parsing result based on the determined semantic analysis result and the analysis result information. A tagging section performs tagging with tags indicating syntactic information upon the target sentence on the basis of the determined parsing result.

  • Publication number: 20020123982
Abstract: As a retrieval result, appropriate text of a second language is provided in response to a retrieval request by text of a first language. A first directory storing part stores a first directory structure created for a first language. A second directory storing part stores a second directory structure created for a second language. A directory relation storing part stores correspondences between directories in the first directory structure and directories in the second directory structure. A directory retrieval part receives a retrieval request by the first language from a user and decides which directory in the first directory structure the request has a high degree of relation with. A multilingual retrieval part decides documents having a high degree of relation with the retrieval request, of documents belonging to a directory in the second directory structure that corresponds to the decided directory.

  • Patent number: 6321189
Abstract: The cross-lingual retrieval system of the present invention retrieves second language sentences which are appropriate translations of a query written in a first language using pair data without being greatly influenced by the difference in expression between the query and sentences to be the object of retrieval, length of the query or sentences to be the object of retrieval or the like. In the system, a pair data storing unit stores multiple pairs each having a first language sentence and a second language sentence having the same meaning. As a query receiving unit receives a query written in the first language, a first retrieving unit retrieves first language sentences similar to the query from a set of first language sentences stored in the pair data storing unit.

  • Patent number: 6076086
Abstract: The present invention provides an associate document retrieving apparatus capable of associate document retrieval which reflects the relation among keywords connected by logical operators in a retrieval expression. In the apparatus, a document information storing element associates each of the documents with a keyword extracted from the document and stores the associated documents. A retrieval expression obtaining element receives a retrieval expression containing retrieval keywords that may be connected by logical operators. A number of documents calculating element specifies objective keywords from within the extracted keywords stored in the document information storing element and calculates several numbers of different kinds of documents.

  • Patent number: 5905980
Abstract: The present invention provides a document processing apparatus, word extracting apparatus, word extracting method and storage medium for storing a word extracting program, capable of appropriately presenting effective associate words to the user. A retrieving element executes retrieval of documents based on a retrieval condition inputted through a retrieval condition inputting element. A keyword designating element designates an arbitrary word among the words included in the retrieved documents as an associate-word-searching word and designates other words as candidates for an associate word. A simultaneous appearance probability calculating element calculates a simultaneous appearance probability of the associate-word-searching word and one of the candidates for the associate word in any of the retrieved documents. A first independent appearance probability calculating element obtains an independent appearance probability of the associate-word-searching word in each of all documents.
