    Abstract: Airborne ink mist is prevented from sticking to the detector part of a paper detector disposed on a carriage without using a configuration for capturing the ink mist. A printer has a conveyance path that conveys paper past the print position of a printhead; a carriage that carries the printhead; and a carriage moving mechanism that moves the carriage bidirectionally on the transverse axis of the printer. A paper detector and a shutter that opens and closes the detection part of the paper detector are disposed on the carriage. When the carriage moves to one end of the range of carriage movement, a shutter operating member disposed on a second side frame facing the carriage contacts the shutter and moves the shutter from its open position or closed position to the other position.

    Abstract: Tampering with fiscal information written to memory can be detected without reducing the write speed. When fiscal information is written to first memory unit 411 by means of a fiscal control CPU 42 , a memory control CPU 412 writes a first hash value corresponding to the fiscal information in second memory unit 413. When fiscal information is read from the first memory unit 411, the fiscal control CPU 42 reads the first hash value from the second memory unit 413 through the memory control CPU 412, compares the first hash value with a second hash value calculated from the fiscal information read from first memory unit 411, and detects tampering with the fiscal information.

    Abstract: An airtight damper, an input axis, and a flywheel are mounted to the input axis with a bolt. A torque transmitter, a torque transmitter attachment unit of the flywheel, and a support plate are united with each other using a bolt. The torque transmitter includes a spline unit. A pressure plate engaged with the spline unit is pressed by a pressure spring so as to press a friction plate and a torque transmitter plate against the support plate. Since the torque transmitter plate is fixed to a drive plate by a rivet, the torque from the input axis can be transmitted to the drive plate. Although the torque from the engine is larger than an allowable value, a friction member can slip at a constant torque depending on the pressure of the pressure spring, thereby protecting the damper against an excess load.
