  • Publication number: 20040182539
Abstract: During continuous casting of metals, a non-moving, vibrating magnetic field is applied to a molten metal in a casting mold to impose only vibration on the molten metal. This continuous casting method can produce a cast slab much less susceptible to flux entrainment, capture of bubbles and non-metal inclusions near the surface of the molten metal, and surface segregation. The magnetic field is preferably produced by arranging electromagnets in an opposing relation on both sides of the mold to lie side by side in the direction of longitudinal width of the mold, and supplying a single-phase AC current to each coil. The single-phase AC current preferably has frequency of 0.10 to 60 Hz. A static magnetic field can be applied intermittently in the direction of thickness of a cast slab. This technique can produce a cast slab substantially free from the flux entrainment and the surface segregation. Preferably, the static magnetic field is intermittently applied under setting of an on-time t1 0.

  • Patent number: 6524124
Abstract: An electrical connector for connection of a flat-type connection member includes a housing having an opening and a contact facing into the opening; and a cover pivotally movable between a close position and an open position. A support shaft for the pivotal movement of the cover is supported by a support portion of the housing as allowed to pivot and slidably move between a forward position and a rearward position. When the cover in the close position is slidably moved rearwardly along with the support shafts, engagement portions of the cover come into engagement with lock portions of the housing thereby locking the cover in the close position.

  • Patent number: 6315603
Abstract: An electrical connector for flat cable which removably connects a flat cable at its end. A housing defines an insertion space for insertion of the end of the flat cable in a predetermined direction. A retainer is connected to the housing as allowed to slide substantially along the predetermined direction. A reinforcement member made of metal is fixed to the housing. The reinforcement member inhibits the removal of the retainer from the housing.

  • Patent number: 6055837
Abstract: A horizontal roll guide device HG or a friction guide device FG is disposed in front, and in the proximity, of a finish universal mill FU of a rolling process of a shape steel having a flange and a web so as to restrict the center portion of the web in the transverse direction, the finish universal mill includes barrel width-variable horizontal rolls 1a and 1b, and axes XV of vertical rolls 2a and 2b are moved by a distance d on the entry side of the rolling direction relatively to the axes XH of the barrel width-variable horizontal rolls 1a and 1b to as to restrict the web. Due to the synergistic effect of these two restriction effects, web curving and web off-center of the web when the web of the shape steel is rolled from axial direction by the vertical rolls 2a and 2b by setting the roll width of the barrel width-variable horizontal rolls can be restricted. Accordingly, a variety of shape steels having a flange and various web heights can be produced very accurately.

  • Patent number: 5512215
Abstract: Disclosed are a shading film formed on a transparent substrate for forming a color filter, and a shading coating for forming the shading film. The shading film is made up of particles of a material with a layered lattice structure. The maximum diameter of the particles is 3 .mu.m or less, with the average diameter in the 0.05 .mu.m to 0.08 .mu.m range, and 40 to 95 wt % of the particles have a diameter of 0.1 .mu.m or less. The average aspect ratio of the particles is 10/1 or greater. The shading coating contains: a particulate material with a layered lattice structure and satisfying the characteristics relating to the particle size described above; and a dispersion medium for dispersing the particulate material. Water is used as the dispersion medium.

  • Patent number: 5456308
Abstract: A method and apparatus for manufacturing a thin amorphous metal strip. Molten metal is injected onto a single cooling roll rotating at high speed. A gas flow impeding wall is disposed adjacent to the surface of a cooling roll and extends across the body of the cooling roll. The wall is located upstream of the molten metal injection nozzle. CO.sub.2 gas is jetted along one surface of the gas insulating wall which faces the molten metal injection nozzle and toward the surface of the cooling roll. An atmosphere rich in CO.sub.2 gas is maintained adjacent the roll surface just upstream of the molten metal injection nozzle.

  • Patent number: 5177554
Abstract: In an image forming apparatus according to the present invention, a plurality of image forming process units are aligned to face a horizontal transportation section of a paper transportation path. A transfer belt unit is provided to successfully transfer images formed on photoreceptor drums of the process units to a transfer medium. A flashlight device is interposed between each two adjacent process units. Developing agent images formed by means of the process units and transferred to the transfer medium are fixed to the medium by means of the flashlight devices. By doing this, a developing agent transferred to the transfer medium by means of a preceding process unit is fixed to the medium by means of its corresponding flashlight device. Thus, in an image forming process using a subsequent process unit, images can be securely superposed without causing the previously transferred developing agent to separate from the transfer medium.
