  • Publication number: 20110032466
Abstract: A pixel of a liquid crystal display device of the present invention includes first and second linear alignment control structures 10a, 20a. The first and second linear alignment control structures each include a first component extending along a first axis L1 and a second component extending along a second axis L2 that is different from the first axis. Each of the first and second axes generally bisects angles between the polarization axes of the pair of polarizing plates. At least one group of the first and second linear alignment control structures are ribs 20a. A first component 20a1 of the rib includes three or more first linear portions arranged along the first axis. The first linear portions are arranged such that adjacent two form an angle of ?1 where 50°??1<180° and that the direction which bisects ?1 is generally perpendicular to the first axis. A second component 20a2 of the rib includes three or more second linear portions arranged along the second axis.

  • Publication number: 20100255222
Abstract: A display element that includes substrates each having a thin film layer formed by applying a thin film layer composition thereon by an ink-jet method, in which, in the formation of the thin film layers, streaky display unevenness does not develop along a direction in which an ink-jet head discharges the composition having the shape of dots aligned on straight lines from the nozzles. In the liquid crystal display element 1 including an array substrate 5 including an alignment film 8, and a color filter substrate 3 including an alignment film 7, the substrates 5 and 3 being used in a pair, the dots on the alignment films 7 and 8 are aligned such that an interval between the straight lines on the alignment film 8 is displaced by half an interval from an interval between the straight lines on the alignment film 7.

  • Publication number: 20090256086
Abstract: The present invention provides a production method of a liquid crystal display device, and an exposure device, which can inhibit the deterioration of display quality even when the aligning treatment of an alignment layer is performed using an optical alignment method. The present invention pertains to a production method of a liquid crystal display device in which an alignment layer is provided on a substrate and two or more domains are formed in each pixel of a display region by exposing the alignment layer, wherein the production method includes the exposure step of exposing the alignment layer through a photo mask in which a plurality of light-transmitting areas are located in a stripe pattern, and wherein the exposure step is a step of exposing the alignment layer continuously while the relative position of the photo mask with respect to the substrate is moved at the time of viewing a substrate surface from the front in substantially parallel with the light-transmitting area.
