  • Publication number: 20110242948
Abstract: There is provided an optical disc device including an objective lens, a lens actuator for driving the objective lens, a light-receiving unit, and a system control unit which determines, at startup, the values of parameters to be set for recording or reproducing data in or from the respective information layers, and performs setting and management of recording inhibition or reproduction inhibition for the respective information layers, wherein, even when an error occurs because the values of the parameter groups for the respective layers cannot be determined in an optical disc having laminated plural information layers, recording or reproduction can be performed for at least the layers for which the parameters can be correctly determined, without stopping the startup. Thereby, the states of the respective information layers are managed for each information layer, and reproduction or recording operation is rapidly started in the respective layers to effectively utilize the multilayer disc.

  • Publication number: 20110182156
Abstract: Optical disc recording processing of recording data to be recorded on an optical disc having a plurality of recording layers at a recording velocity depending on the radial position includes use pattern selection processing of selecting a use pattern in which given recordable regions included in a data zone of the optical disc are used for recording of the data to be recorded in given use order, among a plurality of use patterns different in the number of recording layers used, so that the total recording time is shortened, based on given conditions including at least the capacity of the data to be recorded, the recording velocities of use regions in the use pattern, and the number of interlayer shifts in the use pattern. The data to be recorded is recorded according to the use pattern selected in the use pattern selection processing.

  • Patent number: 7898932
Abstract: When recording is carried out in a DVD-RAM, if at least one address mark could have been detected at the header section, after a test light emission for a laser power control is carried out at a GAP section, normal recording is carried out from GUARD1. Herein, if the delay time in the reproduced data would have increased, and if the head of the GAP section has been passed by at the timing when the AM4 is detected in a period during judging whether the fourth AM has been detected or not, it would not be possible to carry out a test light emission normally at the GAP section. In an optical disc recording device of the present invention, when any of the first to third address marks could have been detected, a test light emission is carried out at the GAP section as conventional, and normal recording is carried out from GUARD1 with controlling the laser powers on the basis of that result.

  • Publication number: 20100329095
Abstract: A process which is performed by a recording/reproducing device configured to irradiate an optical recording medium including a plurality of recording layers with laser light to record and reproduce data, and is for determining at least one of a recording condition at the time of recording user data on any one recording object recording layer of the plurality of recording layers, or a reproducing condition at the time of reproducing the data from the recording object recording layer, where record management data indicating a recorded area on the recording layers is recorded on the optical recording medium. The process includes: acquiring a remaining capacity of a test recording area for each of the recording layers based on the record management data; and determining a recording layer on which test recording is intended to be made based on the remaining capacities of the test recording area acquired for the recording layers.

  • Publication number: 20100177608
Abstract: In an optical disc having a multilayer structure in which recording layers are bonded to each other, the number of times additional writing can be performed is increased. A method for controlling an optical disc device according to the present invention comprises steps of calculating a displacement amount generated when the recording layers are bonded to each other; and identifying the size of a recordable area in a non-usable area predetermined on the recording layer based on the displacement amount.

  • Publication number: 20100131821
Abstract: A recording medium for storing a data stream is comprised of first error correcting codes obtained by encoding first information, second error correcting codes obtained by encoding second information, and synchronization signals. In the data stream, the second error correcting codes and the synchronization signals alternatively interleave the first error correcting codes. The second error correcting codes have the same number of corrections as the first error correcting codes. A code length of the second error correcting codes is shorter than a code length of the first error correcting codes.

  • Publication number: 20090180366
Abstract: When performing data recording, an output pulse of a laser is measured, and a phase setting of a write strategy is corrected so that the pulse is outputted with a correct phase. The phase setting of the write strategy is varied in the state where the laser emits a constant power in a laser control system, and an emitted light of a multipulse corresponding to a mark portion of the laser is converted into a voltage by a photodetector, and then averaged by an LPF. Then, a temporal change against the phase setting is measured and detected at a voltage level, and the phase setting of a write strategy generator circuit is corrected and updated so that the measured level becomes an ideal level.

  • Publication number: 20090060191
Abstract: A scrambling circuit 104 for encrypting command information is provided in a sending side host computer 3001, and a descrambling circuit 101 for decoding the encrypted command information is provided in a receiving side information processing overall circuit 3003. A converter circuit 102 is provided in an interface circuit 103. For storing sequentially transmitted command information into a memory module 3004, the converter circuit 102 address-converts them so that the received command information is not stored at addresses in a reception sequence. Hence, the to-be-concealed content of information in the command is prevented from leaking caused by observation of an information storage portion in the circuit from outside or by communication intercept between devices.

  • Patent number: 7478311
Abstract: In an error detection method of the present invention, target code strings which are inputted in a discontinuous arrangement are subjected to a syndrome operation, and simultaneously, the target code strings which are inputted in a discontinuous arrangement are subjected to a first error detection code operation while correcting the inter-data continuity by skipping the data so that the arrangement of the code strings have continuity. Then, error data positions and error data numerical values of the target code strings are calculated on the basis of a syndrome obtained in the syndrome operation, and only the error data position among the target code strings are subjected to a second error detection code operation again on the basis of the error data positions and the error data numerical values.

  • Patent number: 7317408
Abstract: A digital modulation apparatus capable of generating a modulated code so that binary slice is correctly performed when reproducing is provided. To achieve this, in a digital modulation apparatus (10A), a DSV change amount calculator (15) calculates change amounts (?DSVa, ?DSVb) in DSVs of candidate modulated codes (CODEa, CODEb) generated by a modulated code generator (11). A modulated code determinator (13) compares the change amounts (?DSVa, ?DSVb), and determines that the candidate modulated code having a smaller absolute value should be selected as a modulated code (CODE). A modulated code selector (14) selects one of the candidate modulated codes (CODEa, CODEb) which is determined by the modulated code determinator (13), and outputs the selected code as a modulated code (CODE) for source data (DATA).

  • Patent number: 7318131
Abstract: The present invention provides a CPU-containing LSI in which software stored in an external memory is incorporated partially into a RAM and thereby the capacity of the RAM to be used can be held down, and an optical disk device including the same. In the CPU-containing LSI, the RAM includes a software storage region where software read in from the external memory on a module-by-module basis is stored, and an entry table in which entries are stored, with the entries each containing at least information as to a location and a size of a module stored in the software storage region. The CPU refers to the entry table to decide the location where a module to be read in from the external memory to the software storage region is to be stored, according to an incorporation-location search program.
