  • Patent number: 5932841
Abstract: A connecting structure of a metallic shielding member is provided with each of contacting elongations in the leading edge direction of male or female metallic shielding member in which a pair of engaging hook pieces to engage with the contacting elongation of one of the metallic shielding members are formed at the contacting elongation of the other metallic shielding member. The pair of engaging hook pieces are formed at both sides of the slit provided between the adjacent contacting elongations. The other connecting structure of a metallic shielding member in which each of the contacting elongations of both metallic shielding members equipped with male and female connectors is brought into contact with each other, a pressing spring is provided for energizing the contacting elongation of one of the metallic shielding members toward the contacting elongation of the other metallic shielding member at least in the connector housing on one side.

  • Patent number: 5674098
Abstract: Terminals for a low-cost connector apparatus, and the connector apparatus using the terminals, are provided. Each of the connection portions of the terminals for connecting wiring materials is formed by cutting an electrically conductive pipe material into a specific length and then crimping flat one end thereof. The uncrimped end retains its cylindrical shape, and is formed into a fit-engagement portion into which another terminal is inserted to make current conduction possible. The connector apparatus comprises a first base member having a main portion and a stepped portion, a side wall of the main portion being substantially perpendicular to a top surface of the stepped portion. A second base member, matable with the said first base member, is also provided. Burial holes are provided in the first base member near the stepped portion, and the inventive terminals are disposed therein.

  • Patent number: 5672076
Abstract: A shielded connector is so designed that its inner housing can be used independently, and the core wires of a shielded cable can be directly connected to the inner housing which has been shielded. A female inner connector and a male inner connector, in which terminals are accommodated respectively, are so designed as to be used independently. A female outer housing which is electrically conductive and connected to the shielding braid of a shielded cable is detachably preset over the female inner connector. A male outer housing which is electrically conductive and is connected to the shielding braid of a shielded cable is detachably preset over the male inner connector so that the male outer housing is fixedly coupled to the female outer housing through electrically conductive fixing means with the former electrically connected to the latter.

  • Patent number: 5645450
Abstract: A male terminal is provided so that engagement protrusions formed on an inner housing engage with notches formed in a flange portion of the male terminal to thereby prevent the male terminal from rotating relative to a shielded cable around its axial line, and a metal shield is provided so that portions of the metal shield are fitted and locked into metal shield insertion holes formed among connection portions between an outer housing and the inner housing to thereby prevent the metal shield from rotating relative to the shielded cable around its axial line.

  • Patent number: 5637830
Abstract: In a shielded connector, an opening into which a shielded wire is to be inserted is formed in a rear portion of a housing, a part of a metal shell disposed in the housing is formed as an exposed portion which is exposed on an inner periphery of the opening, a terminal is clamped to be connected to a conductor of a leading end of the shielded wire, and a contact which makes contact with the exposed portion is clamped to be connected to a braided shield portion on an outer periphery of an inner sheath. A projection which, when the terminal is fitted and fixed at a given position in the opening, interferes with the contact to block the contact from moving toward the terminal, is formed on an inner periphery of the opening.

  • Patent number: 5496968
Abstract: A shielded cable connecting terminal includes a conductor, a cable sheath insulating the conductor, and a conductive braid wound around the cable sheath. The terminal further comprises: a terminal body having an electrically connecting portion connectable to a mating terminal at one end and a cylindrical portion connectable to the end of the shielded cable at the other end; and a conductive pipe for receiving the conductor of the shielded cable therein and fitting into the cylindrical portion. A collar is disposed on the conductive pipe into which the shielded cable is inserted and an insulating portion is formed on the edge surface of the collar. As a result, short-circuiting caused by possible contact between fraying strands of the braid of the shielded cable and the terminal is avoided. Further, the use of the inexpensive conductive pipe lowers the overall cost of the terminal.
