  • Patent number: 8152263
Abstract: When the number of sheets that have been printed has reached the number of sheets guaranteed for printing, a number representing a upper limit of the number of sheets that can be printed, an ink jet printer declines to perform printing with an ink cartridge for which the number of sheets guaranteed for printing has been set, but when the number of sheets printed has not reached the number of sheets guaranteed for printing, performs printing of an image onto a recording sheet S by using the ink cartridge, the ink jet printer determining the number of sheets remaining N on the basis of the number of sheets printed that have been printed, and displaying on a display unit 82 the number of sheets remaining information display screen 80 incorporating a number of sheets remaining display unit 80b that causes visual recognition of a relation between the number of sheets guaranteed for printing and the number of sheets remaining.

  • Patent number: 8142087
Abstract: An image printing device and a method of controlling the image printing device are provided. One embodiment of an image printing device includes a load unit that loads a plurality of overlapped printing media, a printing unit that performs a printing process for the printing media transported from the load unit, a moving unit that is movable in a predetermined main scanning direction, a printing medium detecting unit that is mounted to the moving unit and detects a signal relating to a presence of a printing medium, a position detecting unit that detects a position of the moving unit, and a control unit.

  • Publication number: 20060077242
Abstract: A printing device has a first part and a second part and prints an image on a medium adapted to be transported from the first part to the second part in a transport direction and having a notch disposed at a back end portion in the transport direction. A printing head is disposed between the first part and the second part and is adapted to eject ink to the medium. A first driver is operable to drive one of a pair of rollers adapted to nip the medium to form a nip portion therebetween so that the rollers transport the medium from the first part to the second part in the transport direction. A second driver is operable to drive the printing head so that the printing head ejects the ink to the medium. An anticipator anticipates a location of the back and portion. A controller is operable to control the second driver so as to cause the printing head not to eject the ink in association with the location anticipated by the anticipator.
