  • Patent number: 6353962
Abstract: An automobile wiper that restricts relative pivoting between the arm and the wiper blade without increasing costs. The automobile wiper includes a wiper blade having an upper wall on which an opening is provided. A clip is supported by a pin in the opening pivotally relative to the wiper blade. The clip has a flange extending perpendicular to the pin. The distal end of the arm is fixed to the clip. Relative pivoting between the clip and the wiper blade is restricted by contact between the flange and the lower surface of the upper wall of the wiper blade.

  • Patent number: 5638416
Abstract: An arrangement of fuel rod support members having dimples and springs is presented to prevent abrasive wear of the fuel rods caused by bouncing of the fuel rods against the supporting members caused by vibrations in a diagonal direction of the support grids. The supporting members are disposed such that dimples are respectively provided on one pair of adjacent walls located on one side of the vibrational direction while springs are respectively provided on adjacent walls located on the opposite side of the vibrational direction.

  • Patent number: 5515408
Abstract: A fuel assembly is presented in which a plurality of support grids are disposed along the longitudinal direction of the fuel rods. The straps forming the grid cells of the support grids are provided with mixing vanes for generating turbulent flow of the cooling water passing through the grid cells. In a plan view of the support girds, each of the mixing vanes protrudes inwardly of the grid cells and is disposed along a positive diagonal direction and a negative diagonal direction. This configuration of the mixing vanes are effective in preventing the generation of systematic vibrations in the fuel assembly by canceling the effects of the turbulent flows of the cooling water. The direction of protrusion of the mixing vanes can be in two diagonal directions within one support grid, or it can be unidirectional along either diagonal direction within one support grid.

  • Patent number: 5400498
Abstract: An apparatus is presented for removing the keys smoothly and reliably from support grids of a fuel assembly. The apparatus performs the task of removing the keys, which had been inserted into the grid through the opening sections of the grid, and enables mechanization and automation of the key removal operation. The apparatus has a robotic arm including a pair of parallel grid support members freely movably disposed at the end of the robotic arm for clamping onto the side edges of the grid. The apparatus further includes a key rotation device disposed on the support arm for engaging with and rotating the keys; a key moving device disposed on the grid support members so as to hold the keys and move the keys in the direction of the key axis.

  • Patent number: 5359633
Abstract: In a method of assembling a nuclear fuel assembly, a deflecting jig is inserted into grid cells in each of a plurality of grids. The diameter of the deflecting jig is enlarged to urge a spring of at least one pair of dimples and spring associated with the grid cell to deflect the springs away from the dimple. A plurality of elongated key members are inserted into the grid cells through a plurality of openings defined at intersections between the straps forming walls of the grid cells. Each key member is rotated about its axis to cause hooks of the key member to project from a wall surface of the strap in a direction opposite to the projecting direction of the springs. The key member is then moved in a direction to engage the hooks with the wall surface of the strap. Urging of the spring by the deflecting jig is released to allow the same to be withdrawn from the grid cells and, subsequently, the fuel rods are inserted into the respective grid cells.

  • Patent number: 5114668
Abstract: In a grid in a nuclear fuel assembly for supporting fuel rods, elongated straps intersect with each other to define grid cells. At least one pair of punched sections are formed, in spaced relation to each other, in each of peripheral walls of the respective grid cells. At least one of elongated spring elements is formed in the peripheral wall of each grid cell. Each spring element is formed such that a portion of the peripheral wall of the grid cell between the pair of punched sections bulges and projects into the grid cell. The spring element is capable of being deflected toward the peripheral wall of the grid cell. A pair of projections are formed in the peripheral wall of the grid cell respectively at both longitudinal ends of the spring element such that a pair of portions of the peripheral wall of the grid cell bulge. Both longitudinal ends of the spring element are connected respectively to the pair of projections.

  • Patent number: 5025339
Abstract: An optical disk drive apparatus includes a tray into which an optical disk or a cartridge housing therein an optical disk may be inserted. The tray is movable first in a horizontal direction and then in a vertical direction. A cone arm having a cone disk rotatably supported at its distal end is provided and the proximal end is fixedly supported near the entrance of the apparatus where an insertion slot for inserting an optical disk or cartridge is located. The cone arm is flexible and elongated in shape and has its intermediate portion operatively coupled to a bracket fixedly mounted on the tray, so that as the tray moves horizontally and then vertically, the cone arm is automatically deflected to bring the cone disk in engagement with the optical disk, thereby causing the optical disk properly mounted on a spindle motor. Further, an oil damper is interconnected with both a loading/ejecting arm and a shutter opening and closing member.

  • Patent number: 4823336
Abstract: An optical disk drive includes an optical disk, a pair of guide shafts, a carriage having an optical pick-up movable in the radial direction of the disk as guided by the guide shafts. A plurality of rollers are rotatably mounted on the carriage so that a rolling contact is provided between the guide shafts and the carriage. Preferably, one of the rollers is pressed against the associated guide shaft so as to absorb any play which may exist in the rollers. Each of the guide shafts is so structured to define a part of a closed magnetic flux circuit, and each of a pair of coils fixedly mounted on the carriage is loosely fitted on this part of the associated guide shaft. As a result, a pair of linear motors is defined on both sides of the carriage using the pair of guide shafts to define a pair of closed magnetic flux circuits partly.
