  • Patent number: 5573929
Abstract: Provided is a chimeric HV1/HV3 hirudin analog useful as an anti-coagulant, exhibiting higher anti-thrombin activity and less tendency to cause bleeding than hirudin HV1. Also provided are a method of producing hirudins and hirudin analogs, as well as other proteins, employing secretion vectors, and transformed microorganisms such as E. coli. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising various hirudins or the chimeric HV1/HV3 hirudin analog of the present invention and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5258530
Abstract: A process for producing a biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride which comprises the step of: heating phthalic anhydride at a temperature of from 135.degree. to 300.degree. C. in the presence of a palladium catalyst thereby to allow the phthalic anhydride to undergo a dimerization reaction. According to the process, biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride can be synthesized by the direct dimerization of phthalic anhydride.

  • Patent number: 4997600
Abstract: A thermoplastic sheet is prepared by (i) extruding a molten thermoplastic resin in the form of a sheet from a molding die; (ii) applying static charges to the extruded resin sheet from a first electrode whereby the charged resin sheet is pinned to the surface of an electrical insulating layer of a quenching roller to quench the resin sheet; (iii) peeling the quenched sheet from the surface of the quenching roller; and (v) applying electrostatic charges having a reverse polarity to that of the electrostatic charges from the first electrode to the exposed surface portion of the quenching roller from a second electrode. The quenching roller is made of an electrically earthed substrate and the electrical insulating layer formed on the surface of the substrate.

  • Patent number: 4951228
Abstract: A priority grade is provided to each of several graphic figures. Respective contour lines of the graphic figures are classified into two groups according to respective locations. Respective contour lines in the two groups are serially selected in a descending order of main scanning coordinate values, and are compared with each other to specify a cross point having the largest coordinate value within a selected pair of cross points. A component of the raster data is generated on the basis of the selected cross point when a priority grade of the selected cross point satisfies a predetermined condition in connection with respective priority grades of the other cross points.

  • Patent number: 4690792
Abstract: A biaxially drawn laminated films having a good oxygen barrier property, a good mechanical strength and high thickness uniformity are made by a process comprising:a first step of forming a substantially amorphous unoriented laminated film comprising a saponified ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer having an ethylene content of 25 to 45 mole % and a polyamide, and drawing the film in the longitudinal direction at a deformation rate of at least 10,000%/min and a draw ratio of 2.7 to 3.5 at 45.degree. to 65.degree. C. by using a roll drawing machine;a second step of transferring the film drawn at the first step to the transverse drawing-initiating point of a tenter type transverse drawing machine, expanding the width of the film at an angle of not larger than 6.degree. with respect to the central line of the film at least until the mechanically set ratio of the tenter clip distance to the original distance becomes at least 1.

  • Patent number: 4161631
Abstract: A pickup cartridge composed of a cantilever, a plate-shaped armature and a magnet or magnetic material. The plate-shaped armature is pivotally mounted to the cantilever and stretched backward by a suspension wire through a damper disposed in front of the magnet or magnetic material. A holding means is disposed at the rear of the damper and includes a magnet with north and south poles. Coils are mounted on the armature. The magnetic flux which passes through the coils passing in the direction of the axes of the coils, but not parallel to the direction determined by a line between the north and south poles of said magnet, produces a linear push-pull output.
