  • Patent number: 8228321
Abstract: An apparatus for adjusting luminance includes a comparing part, a summing part, a mode selecting part, an inverting part and a decoding part. The comparing part compares a photo sensing voltage with a reference voltage in each of a plurality of sensing periods and generating a photo sensing signal. The summing part sums the photo sensing signal during the sensing periods and generates a plurality of summation signals. The mode selecting part controls an application of the summation signals based on a mode selection. Then, the inverting part inverts the summation signals based on the control of the mode selecting part and generates a plurality of inversion signals. The decoding part decodes the summation signals or the inversion signals and generates a decoding signal. Therefore, light pollution and power consumption may be decreased, and manufacturing costs may be decreased.

  • Patent number: 8184079
Abstract: A driving apparatus for a display device and display device having the driving apparatus. The display device has a plurality of pixels each having a switching element. The driving apparatus includes a gate line connected to the switching element, a gate driver to apply a gate signal having first to third voltages to the gate line, a first voltage generator to generate the first and third voltages, and a second voltage generator to generate the second voltage. The first and second voltages turn on the switching element, and the third voltage turns off the switching element. The second voltage is less than the first voltage. Thus, since the gate driver includes the second voltage generator to generate the second voltage and a plurality of transistors, and generates a gate output having a step shape, a kickback voltage is reduced and flicker is prevented.

  • Publication number: 20080204622
Abstract: A display apparatus includes a receiving frame, a front-light module, a cover member and a display panel. The receiving frame has side walls which are formed around an open portion. The front-light module includes a light-guide plate disposed in the receiving space and a light source disposed between the light-guide plate and at least one side wall. The cover member is disposed over the side walls, to cover the light source and an upper surface of the light-guide plate. The display panel module includes a liquid crystal display (LCD) panel facing the light-guide plate and disposed under the front-light module in the receiving space, and a driving printed circuit film extending along the side wall from an edge of the LCD panel to the cover member. Thus, prism patterns of the light-guide plate may be protected and a mounting area of driving elements may be increased.

  • Publication number: 20060083033
Abstract: A voltage generator includes a first voltage booster and a second voltage booster. The first voltage booster boosts an input voltage to generate a first boosted voltage applied to a load. The second voltage booster generates a second boosted voltage applied to the load when the first boosted voltage is out of a critical range. The second boosted voltage is generated by the voltage generator when the first boosted voltage is applied to the load. Therefore, the second boosted voltage may compensate for an instability of first boosted voltage.
