  • Patent number: 11954092
Abstract: An Internet of Things (IoT) server can transmit a series of data blocks of a software update to an IoT device by sending a series of data block messages to the IoT device over a telecommunication network. The IoT device can return data block receipt messages to confirm receipt of the data block messages. The IoT device can also attempt to validate received data block messages, and can return data block validation messages for the data block messages that have been validated. When the IoT server receives data block validation messages for all of the data blocks of the software update, the IoT server can determine that the IoT device has received a usable version of the software update.

  • Publication number: 20240036847
Abstract: A server system for updating firmware of a client device in an IoT network receives an indication that the client device has re-registered after being de-registered. The server system determines a current version of firmware and a latest successful status of a FOTA update on the client device. When the current version of the firmware corresponds to a latest version of the firmware available, the server system saves information regarding the latest version of the firmware to its database. When the current version of the client device does not correspond to the latest version of the firmware available, the server system transmits an upgrade package of the FOTA update and an indication of the latest successful status of the FOTA update to the client device. The server system thereby enables the client device to continue the FOTA update from the latest successful status of the FOTA update.

  • Patent number: 10602342
Abstract: The methods, systems, and computer readable media discussed herein are directed to updating data in a subscriber identity module (SIM) of a user equipment (UE), and more specifically, to enabling the UE, such as a narrow-band (NB) Internet of things (IoT) device, to update data and application(s) in the SIM without using short messaging system (SMS) messages. The UE, upon powering on, may execute an applet installed on the SIM card, and poll the MNO to determine whether data to be downloaded is available. Upon determining that the data to be downloaded is available, the UE may schedule downloading of the data, automatically download the data via an over-the-air (OTA) protocol according to the schedule, and update the SIM with the downloaded data.
