  • Publication number: 20120260813
Abstract: Disclosed are a method and a device for measuring a running direction of a substrate web (6). The method for measuring a running direction of a substrate web consists of the substrate web (6) being guided around a measuring roller (12), at least one bearing force of the measuring roller (12) being measured, and the running direction of the substrate web (6) being determined based on the measured bearing force. The device (10) for measuring the miming direction of a substrate web (6) comprises a measuring roller (12), with the substrate web (6) being guided around said measuring roller (12). Furthermore, the device (10) comprises at least one sensor (18a, 18b, 18c) for measuring a bearing force of the measuring roller (12) and comprises an evaluation circuit, said evaluation circuit being connected to the at least one sensor (18a, 18b, 18c) and being suitable for determining an alignment of the substrate web (6) based on the bearing force measured by the sensor (18a, 18b, 18c).

  • Publication number: 20070041737
Abstract: An object of the invention is to determine the position of a transport medium in a printing machine in a simple manner. Provided is a method for the control of a transport medium for a printing machine, whereby at least one mark is applied to the transport medium and whereby a single sensor detects a seam of the transport medium, as well as the mark. Also provided is a sensor device for the control of a transport medium for a printing machine, said device comprising a sensor for the detection of a seam of a transport medium and at least one mark on said transport medium.

  • Publication number: 20050225587
Abstract: Positioning a printing head of a printing press in which marks are applied on a support that is detected by sensors and as a consequence, the printing head is adjusted, the marks being applied on two opposite sides of the support that are detected by two correspondingly arranged sensors, and the printing head is oriented in response to the results of the two sensors.

  • Patent number: 6819886
Abstract: An on-line gloss/density meter for an electrostatographic reproduction apparatus in which pigmented marking particle images are fixed to receiver members respectively by application of heat and/or pressure as such receiver members travel along a transport path through a fuser assembly. The on-line gloss/density meter includes at least one light emitter and at least one light collector, respectively mounted in operative association with the transport path so that light from the emitter, reflected from a receiver member, and is detected and a signal corresponding to such reflected light is produced. A guide element is associated with the transport path and directs a receiver member into a predetermined specified location relative to the beam of light. A logic and control unit, responsive to signals from the light collector, precisely controls operating parameters for the electrostatographic reproduction apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6684049
Abstract: A procedure and device for measuring the thickness of a liquid layer, in particular an oil layer, on the rollers of printing presses. The mass of the liquid layer in the printing press is measured by a measuring device and that the thickness of the liquid layer on the roller be determined on the basis of the measured mass of the liquid layer. The measuring device preferably contains a piezoelectric sensor in a quartz microbalance, which picks up the frequency changes on the basis of the mass applied to the surface or on the basis of changes in the mass and converts them into corresponding masses or mass changes on the basis of the liquid layer. Furthermore, a control device is provided which controls the application of fluid on the roller as a function of the masses or mass changes determined.
