Abstract: A system, a method, and a computer program product for providing transparent access to multi-temperature data are disclosed. A query for accessing data is received. The query includes at least one selection parameter for retrieval of data. The data is stored in a plurality of partitions of a database system. Each partition has a maximum data value per column, a minimum data value per column, and a predetermined date associated with the data contained in the partition. A determination is made whether at least one selection parameter is greater than the minimum data value per column and less than the maximum data value per column. The queried data is retrieved from the partition using the predetermined date associated with the data contained in the partition.

Each of the tables includes a primary key column and a plurality of records. The primary key column provides, for each record in the table, a primary key for one of a plurality of business objects. Thereafter, the database identifies records within a set of tables among a larger number of tables in the database by matching a primary key associated with the business object with the primary key in the primary key column. Once this identification has been made, the database obtains all values responsive to the request from the identified record and transmits, in a second half of the roundtrip between the client and the database, the obtained values for the business object to the client.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for efficient calculation of sets of distinct results in an information retrieval service. A query is received having at least one requested attribute and one or more conditions. For each row identifier in a database table that matches the one or more conditions, a tuple of value identifiers having an entry for each requested attribute is calculated. A unique number is generated and assigned to the tuple for each distinct combination of the value identifiers. Duplicate entries in the tuple listing are identified and removed, so that a result set provides only distinct results.
