  • Patent number: 5531802
Abstract: A device with an extraction fan for use for drawing off ambient air loaded with harmful substances during, e.g., laser surgery or HF surgery, is passed through a filter device. For routine use, easy replacement of the filter should be possible, its loading time is prolonged, and the arrangement of the filter does not compromise the easy handling of the suction line. To achieve this, a transparent sleeve 6, into which a cylindrical folded filter 10 is pulled via a perforation support tube 26, is installed in the suction line, or the filter has a hole 29 provided with a support lining, so that the filter can be directly attached to the suction-side connecting branch 5. The filter 10 is flown through radially, and thus it offers a large filter surface at minimum extension.

  • Patent number: 5119808
Abstract: A respirator arrangement including a protective covering, particularly an antismoke hood, and a respiratory connection which is connected to a chemical that absorbs water vapor and CO.sub.2 and releases oxygen, and whose covering or hood material consists of a coated composite material. The coated composite material includes a support fabric of tear-resistant, heat-resistant, and water vapor repellent fibers formed such that the material for the protective covering and the components carrying the respiratory gas stores or releases the smallest possible amount of water vapor, and is resistant to breakage and tearing while having elasticity and suppleness, and can be processed easily. The composite material has a support fabric 1 of glass fibers 2 that has a silane interlayer 5 as adhesion promoter, to which is applied a PVC coating 3 on the side facing the surroundings, and to which is applied a silicone coating 4 on the surface away from the PVC coating 3.

  • Patent number: 5040530
Abstract: A breathing mask with a half mask and a nape band is to be improved such that secure contact of the mask in the entire nose and mouth region of the mask user is ensured by the nape band. The mask is thus effectively prevented from slipping despite the fact that the band is located in the nape region only. An additional application of a hood is possible without providing additional holding members. To accomplish this task, the band can be applied in the form of a rubber-elastic cuff (5) which has a neck opening (6) and a head opening (7). The mask and cuff are preferably made in one piece of silicone rubber, and the hood can additionally be bonded to the cuff.

  • Patent number: 5005700
Abstract: A gas-tight packaging arrangement for a device, such as a respirator containing an oxygen releasing chemical. The arrangement includes a safety device for checking the state of the packaging. The safety device acts on an elastic partial area of an evacuated envelope surrounding the device. The envelope may be made of foil or the like. The state of the packaging is indicated through a viewing window provided on a housing surrounding the envelope. A loss of vacuum is indicated by providing a tensioned non-elastic band surrounding at least part of the circumference of the envelope. The non-elastic band includes a visible mark band part which may be viewed through the viewing window. The visible mark band part includes a breaking point, the breakage of the visible mark band part being visible through the viewing window. To tension the non-elastic band, a strain relief element may be provided bridging the visible mark band part such that the belt may be tensioned without breaking the visible mark band part.

  • Patent number: 4840171
Abstract: The invention relates to an oxygen supply unit equipped with an oxygen generator for supplying one or more oxygen masks. These masks and the generator are accommodated in an openable housing. The oxygen supply unit is improved in that a highest possible savings in weight is achieved while maintaining the stability of the entire arrangement so that oxygen generators can be installed which are useable for a longer duration. For this purpose, the oxygen generator is attached to a strut which is releasably connected to a reinforcing frame of the housing.

  • Patent number: 4836197
Abstract: The invention relates to a protective hood having a viewing window and an oxygen mask equipped with a breathing-gas connection for an oxygen supply. The protective hood is improved in that the oxygen supply is first established unhindered and the protective hood can be pulled over the head with a reliable manual movement when required without the oxygen supply having to be interrupted. Such a protective hood is especially useable by passengers in an aircraft. The protective hood is packed such that the hood is rolled up toward the front in four mutually perpendicular directions in the direction of the breathing-gas connection for the oxygen mask so that a rip loop holds the rolled parts together by means of a VELCRO closure. The rip loop is attached to the hood in the region thereof corresponding to the nape of the neck.

  • Patent number: 4807614
Abstract: The invention is directed to a protective hood for an emergency which is formed in part by a permeable strip-like piece holding back dust-like harmful substances. At least in the region of the eyes, the protective hood has a section made of transparent material and the hood also includes an inner half-mask with a breathing air inlet and an exhalation valve. The protective hood is improved by reducing the resistance to inhalation and expanding the protection against harmful gaseous components. This protection is achieved in that the strip-like piece is made of a nonwoven fabric which is provided with a preparation holding back also gaseous harmful substances and includes a breathing air inlet in the form of an inhalation valve for admitting breathing air.

  • Patent number: 4699173
Abstract: A mixing and proportioning device for flowing media, which has feeding lines equipped with a pressure reducer for each line that leads through a mixing chamber and a mixed gas discharge pipe is constructed so that the mixing device closes independently of the supply pressure in the feeding lines, as the pressure differential between the mixing chamber and gas discharge chamber drops below the initially set value. For this purpose, the mixed gas discharge channel is connected to a gas discharge chamber, which is separated from the mixing chamber by a pressure-sensitive spring-mounted device, and this device has a connecting channel equipped with a closing arrangement valve disposed between the mixing chamber and the gas discharge chamber.

  • Patent number: 4219038
Abstract: A gas mixing device comprises a plurality of gas lines for the conveyance of the separate gases to be mixed, each of which has a pressure regulator with a pressure control. A common gas mixture line is connected to each of the gas lines downstream of the pressure controls therein and a constant admission pressure regulator is provided in the mixture line. Control pressure is provided from a control pressure source which, for example, may be at the tapping of the gas mixture line. The control pressure is connected to each of the pressure controls for the pressure regulators and the gas lines and this control pressure is regulated by control means which may be in response to the pressure in each of the individual gas lines or in response to the pressure in the common gas mixture line downstream of the constant admission pressure regulator means.
