  • Patent number: 10355727
Abstract: A computing system may utilize interfering signals of two or more wireless devices for improving communications involving the two or more wireless devices. These techniques and architectures may allow for improved spectral efficiency that enables a relatively large number of wireless devices to communicate among one another via receivers that share overlapping or adjacent frequencies. Such utilization of interfering signals may help solve a general problem involving, for example, co-channel interference (CCI) arising from densely deployed relatively small wireless communication cells for increasing communication throughput.

  • Publication number: 20190150026
Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for identifying areas of maximum congestion so that small cells can be deployed at those specific sites to obviate network congestion problems. The systems and methods identify several input sources (e.g., call data records, passively collected data using Mobile app, etc.) that can be used to identify data congestion. The systems and methods divide a particular geographic area into smaller tiles of a certain shape (e.g., hexagon, square, etc.). For each of the geographic tiles, the systems and methods sort and group the input data samples based on their associated congestion discriminating characteristics (e.g., timestamps, type of input data, etc.). The systems and methods then compute a congestion index for each geographic tile area based on the grouped data samples. In this manner, the systems and methods identify geographic tile areas and time periods of high congestion.

  • Publication number: 20180302903
Abstract: A system, apparatus and method is disclosed for multiband wireless communication. Frequency bands and/or transmission formats are identified as available within a range for wireless communication. The system evaluates signal quality metrics for each frequency band and selects a communication method based on the evaluation. Multiple frequency bands and communication methods can be utilized by the system such that a combination of licensed, unlicensed, semilicensed, and overlapped frequency bands can be simultaneously used for communication. The system monitors communications and can report link performance for adaptive control of the selected communication methods.

  • Publication number: 20180206148
Abstract: OSS device(s) described herein are configured to receive a congestion indication from a RAT component, a CSR, or an edge router of a core network and to determine whether the congestion indication meets a threshold or criteria. Based on that determination, the OSS device(s) may perform one or both of obtaining additional transport resources from a provider of a transport network or updating a resource utilization policy for the RAT component, CSR, or edge router. If obtaining additional transport resources, the OSS device(s) may notify the RAT component, the CSR, and the edge router. If updating a policy, the OSS device(s) may provide the updated resource utilization policy to its associated RAT component, CSR, or edge router.

  • Patent number: 9974047
Abstract: When a user of a mobile device attempts to use an application having high data demands, the mobile device queries its cellular data provider to determine currently available data transfer rates, based on the geographic location of the mobile device and the demands on the cellular base station from which the mobile device is being served. If the base station is experiencing data congestion, which is likely to result in a less than optimum user experience, the mobile device displays a warning to the user suggesting that the user postpone usage of the application or try using the application in a different geographic location that is experiencing less congestion.

  • Publication number: 20180020368
Abstract: A communication cell may receive a request to establish a communication session for delivery to a core network of carrier network, the request originating from a user device connected to the communication cell. A lookup table stored in the communication cell is populated with an association of a session identifier assigned to the communication session and a caller identifier of the user device. The request is placed into an uplink buffer portion of the communication cell that is set aside for the user device. The request is encoded into one or more physical resource blocks reserved for the communication cell by a macrocell, the physical resource blocks being a part of a wireless in-band backhaul between the communication cell and the macrocell. The one or more physical resource blocks that include the request from the communication cell are then transmitted to the macrocell for delivery to the core network.

  • Patent number: 9832650
Abstract: A cellular communications network is configured to support calling over untrusted networks such as the Internet. A cellular communications device is used to place and receive calls through the private, trusted cellular communications network. In addition, the device has a WLAN interface for connection to a wireless network access point such as a Wi-Fi access point, and for communication through the Internet. When conducting a voice or video call, the device establishes a secure communication tunnel with a gateway of the cellular communications network through the Internet and communicates voice and/or video data through the secure communication tunnel. The WLAN interface and secure communication tunnel may be disabled during periods when calls are not being conducted. When a call is placed to the device, a message is sent to the device requesting that the device activate its WLAN interface and/or establish a secure communication tunnel with the gateway.

  • Patent number: 9807624
Abstract: A communication cell may use a wireless in-band backhaul to route backhaul traffic to a macrocell of a carrier network such that the backhaul traffic is delivered to a core network of the carrier network. The communication cell may route backhaul traffic of user devices via the wireless in-band backhaul between the communication cell and the macrocell. The wireless in-band backhaul may take place of a dedicated backhaul between the communication cell and the core network. As the backhaul traffic is routed, if a characteristic of the wireless communication between the communication cell and the macrocell fails to meet a threshold, an antenna of the communication cell may be electrically or mechanically adjusted to improve the characteristic of the wireless communication. The adjustment of the antenna includes performing a beam forming or moving one or more antenna elements of the antenna.

  • Publication number: 20170180245
Abstract: A telecommunication device configured to select one of a plurality of network connectivities of the telecommunication device to use for transmission of a network packet is described herein. The telecommunication device may select the network connectivity based on user routing criteria, connectivity metrics, or transmission times. The user routing criteria may be dynamically updated during a communication or connection, affecting selection of the network connectivity for further network packets. The network connectivities may be respectively associated with different network operators. Also, the telecommunication device may select a first network connectivity for transmitting a first network packet and a second network connectivity for transmitting a second network packet. Further, the telecommunication device may select a first network connectivity for uplink communications and a second network connectivity for downlink communications.
