    Abstract: A method and an apparatus for volume based contour generation have been presented. In some embodiments, the method includes receiving a volume dataset representing a volume of interest (VOI) in a three-dimensional (3D) space. The method may further include generating a contour of the VOI from the volume dataset representing the VOI, wherein at least a portion of the generating is performed using a graphics processing unit.
