  • Patent number: 8285825
Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for dynamically administering a quorum of multiple members based on their involvements in using at least one network resource in a computer network. At least one system administrator responsible for managing a particular network resource will divest his power to the members of the quorum so that his own involvement can be minimized. After identifying one or more stakeholders out of a group of users of the network resource, a weight for each user is updated in one or more rounds of evaluation based on his use of the network resource. The quorum membership is then modified accordingly based on the updated weights of the users so that the network resource is managed appropriated by relevant users.

  • Patent number: 7360245
Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for preventing an address spoofing based attack from a private network. The private network has at least one host and at least one router connected therein for transporting at least one packet. An anti-spoofing filter is implemented in each interface of every router. When a packet is received on the interface, the filter determines whether the packet is address spoofed by comparing its source physical address derived from the received packet with expected physical address derived from interface IP address, a subnet mask of the interface, an ARP cache of the interface and a list of physical addresses of neighboring routers formed a priori If the packet is determined to be address spoofed, the received packet is discarded by the filter on the interface.

  • Patent number: 7243289
Abstract: A method and system is provided for computing a final cyclic redundancy check (CRC) checksum for an entire data block. The method includes segmenting the data block into at least first and second segments and calculating a partial CRC for each segment. A residue table T is calculated that has ‘R’ entries, where the CRC is R-bits in length. An effective CRC is initialized and the entries of the residue table corresponding to nonzero bits of the partial CRC of the first segment are summed. The final CRC for the data block is computed as the sum of the effective CRC and the partial CRC of the second segment.

  • Patent number: 7136489
Abstract: A method and system is provided for implementing a multilateral authorization quorum in a computer network. The authorization quorum comprises a total number of stakeholders out of which a threshold number of stakeholders can provide a multilateral authorization. To implement this multilateral authorization quorum, one or more access sets is first determined, each containing the threshold number of stakeholders. Since the stakeholders split a quorum private key, the shares of the quorum private key for each stakeholder in all access sets are determined. The shares of the private key held by the stakeholders in any one access set add up to a number directly related to the private key. One or more secret keys of the stakeholders are further determined for each access set. One or more polynomials for the access sets are then generated by using the shares of the private key and the secret keys thereof, wherein the private key is thus split among the stakeholders of the multilateral authorization quorum.
