  • Patent number: 8187276
Abstract: The present invention is an improved unique odd angle internal fixation device for both a transverse and longitudinal fracture located at the junction of the metaphysis and diaphysis of a long bone such as the proximal humerus. The improved odd angle internal fixation device includes an elongated lag screw and a rectangular shaped guide plate having multiple holes throughout the plate to host pins and screws and four tips on the front side of the plate. A lag screw with a cylindric head having a hexagonal cavity introduced through the diaphyseal segment of the fracture at three angles, 90, and 150 and 160 degrees, cross fixing the respective bone longitudinal and transverse fracture line and settling in the depth of the epiphysis. An additional locking screw is introduced on the top of the lag screw head to securely lock the lag screw after being settled into the epiphysis.

  • Patent number: 8091383
Abstract: A significant improvement in ring designs which greatly increases the size of the ring in order to accommodate larger ornamentation such as stones incorporated into the ring. The present invention achieves its improved design by making the ring large enough so that it encircles two adjacent fingers of a hand or two adjacent toes of a foot, thereby increasing the size of the ring so that it can accommodate larger ornamentation such as large stones.

  • Patent number: 7226073
Abstract: The present invention relates to a luggage cart with a telescoping handle and fixed wheels including the addition of a foldable supportive wheel structure which is incorporated within the telescoping handle of a conventional luggage cart with fixed wheels to reduce the load that is applied to a user when a conventional luggage cart is employed.

  • Patent number: 7112182
Abstract: An ankle support apparatus which is designed to protect the lateral maleolus ankle bone and the medial maleolus ankle bone. A cuff band is wrapped around the leg and a pair of elongated strap members are supported on the cuff band and on the shoe worn on the leg so that one elongated strap member is in front of the ankle bone and the other elongated strap member is behind the ankle bone.

  • Patent number: 6962572
Abstract: A lumbar support brace which is designed to create a tightening effect to push the abdominal contents and abdomen toward the spinal column and as a result creates and increases the hydraulic pressure inside the abdomen and pushes the tissues against the spinal column and straightens the spinal column. In addition, a U-shaped member supports the spine on either side and is connected to a pelvic support member so that the abdomen, spine and pelvis are concurrently supported. The key feature of the present invention is that the support is a dynamic support which enables the wearer to engage in vigorously physical activity.

  • Patent number: 6786554
Abstract: An apparatus to support the curve of the posterior aspect of the upper and lower portion of the neck and upper thoracic portion of the spine and behind the ears to provide support to these areas so that the head and neck will remain in a supported position while the individual is asleep. The device also provides a residing area for the skull supporting the weight of the head posteriorly. The invention holds the spine in the ideal position during sleep. The device does not support the head and neck of a passenger when awake and holding his/her head and neck in the appropriate vertical position by the supporting contraction of the muscles. In such times, the passenger's head and neck area are completely free of any uncomfortable contact with the device. The device is not strapped to the neck and does not support the head or neck interiorly.

  • Patent number: 5893818
Abstract: An axial loading apparatus for applying a continuous compressive force on top of a patient's head which is aligned with the top of the patient's head. The compressive force serves to strengthen the spine. The patient can direct how much force is applied and for how long the force is applied and as the patient's strength and resistance increase, the weights can be increased and the length of time can be increased. The axial loading apparatus comprises a frame member which has a base portion, a vertical portion affixed, and a top inclined portion connected to the vertical portion. The axial loading apparatus further comprises an actuator mechanism for actuating the load onto the patient's head, a locking mechanism for preventing undesirable loading, and a loading and holding mechanism for loading onto the patient's head.

  • Patent number: 5693055
Abstract: An odd angle internal fixation device for a transverse fracture located at the junction of the metaphysis and diaphysis of a long bone such as the proximal humerus. The internal fixation device includes an elongated lag screw and a rectangular shaped guide plate. The lag screw is introduced through the diaphyseal segment of the fracture at an angle ranging approximately between 155.degree. to 170.degree., cross fixing the bone fracture line and settling in the depth of the epiphysis. The guide plate serves as a guide for the lag screw and allows the engagement of the head of the screw to the inner wall of its short barrel. The engagement would cause the rectangular guide plate which is attached to the barrel, to be compressed against the diaphyseal cortex as the screw advances deeper into the epiphysis.

  • Patent number: 5645079
Abstract: The present invention is a novel and unique orthopedic apparatus for holding, maneuvering and maintaining a body part of a patient during orthopedic surgery. The orthopedic apparatus provides for assisting the primary surgeon during orthopedic surgery by holding, maneuvering and maintaining a patient's leg, thereby eliminating any assistant surgeon in the surgery operation. The orthopedic apparatus is capable of independently accomplishing transverse sliding, up-and-down tilting, lateral swinging, longitudinal extension/retraction, and axial rotation so that the surgeon can properly positioned a patient's leg for the orthopedic operation. The orthopedic apparatus has self-locking gear mechanisms to hold the various sections of the orthopedic apparatus in position to thereby hold the patient's leg in the proper position throughout the surgical operation.
