  • Patent number: 4825048
Abstract: A seat heater for integrated assembly into car seats has at least two or several segments and faces, respectively, of any desired shaping. The heater includes several flat, electrically interconnected resilient heating elements (1.1/1.2) either forming a coherent heating face (1) or conforming to the section-wise individual seat configuration, especially the shaping thereof, with the connection between the individual heating elements (1.1/1.2) being respectively established by a low-strength electrical conductor (3) and the electrical conductor (3) being guided in an insulating resilient sheathing (6) of silicone rubber or the like engaging, at both ends, in partial lengths, each of the heating elements (1.1/1.2 et seq).

  • Patent number: 4697064
Abstract: A process and apparatus for electrically heating vehicle seats by using at least one meandering, insulated heat conductor covered on both sides by thermoplastic foil is disclosed. The heat conductor is spread over a bearing thermoplastic foil and covered with an identical foil. A firmly integrated heating element is then formed by applying heat and pressure. The heat conductors are located in meandering channels which are laid out according to a predetermined plan without any bending to the foils. The heating elements manufactured in this manner are combined with the cushion cores of the seat to be heated. In a preferred embodiment, the thermal deformation stability of the heat conductor insulation exceeds that of the foils by approximately 50%.

  • Patent number: 4695091
Abstract: The invention relates to a heating conductor connection between electrically heated seat and backrest surfaces separated by a bracing trough provided in the padding core. Beneath the bracing trough a bracing wire is bonded in the padding core and a connecting seam of the covering materials is located in the bracing trough. A further bracing wire which is disposed in an apron formed by an insert loop is provided, the two bracing wires being connected via clamping clips. The heated separate surfaces are formed by the heating conductor connections crossing through the bracing trough. These connections take up the mechanical stresses by tension, compression and bending without being endangered.According to the present invention, connecting webs (4.0) of copper strip (4.1), are provided between the heated surfaces (2 and 3) and the copper strip (4.1) consists of woven or knitted material. The connecting heating conductor section (4.2) is laid in meander or wave form, bearing on the copper strip (4.1) thus formed.

  • Patent number: 3976855
Abstract: An electrical heating mat comprises an electrical resistance heating wire arranged in a loop formation with substantially straight leg portions between curved portions. A plurality of spaced apart spacer strips made of thermoplastic material are provided to hold the heating wire its looped formation. Each spacer strip comprises an elongated narrow strip body having a plurality of spaced open-sided were receiving loops having an inner dimension assuring snap-fit reception of the wire therein. One end of each strip body is provided with a snap-in coupling member dimensioned to snap-fit into a wire receiving loop at the end of an adjacent spacer strip to enable a plurality of mats to be interconnected together to form a larger unit. Spacer lands extending generally parallel to the leg portions of the heating wire may connect the spacer strips together.
