  • Patent number: 4748816
Abstract: A method is described for cooling or heating hot filled containers, such as metallic cans. The apparatus employs countercurrent flow between the containers and a water trough and uses axial shaking and the physics of the containers to promote cooling or heating.

  • Patent number: 4669278
Abstract: A freezer system for food products, such as frozen confectioneries and the like, is discosed. Fresh air is supplied to the main chamber of the freezer through an ante room where moisture within the entry air is removed. The products are carried on a conveyor mechanism which does not pass through the ante room, providing positive air pressure within the freezer system at the entry and exit points of the conveyor, reducing substantially or eliminating entry of warm air at these points.

  • Patent number: 4516383
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for packaging containers in cardboard trays with a surrounding plastics resin film. The trays are formed with apertures in each corner thereof, and holes are burned in the plastics resin film, after the package is formed, in registry with the apertures of the tray, permitting escape of leaked product within the containers from the package.

  • Patent number: 4498575
Abstract: A method and apparatus for conveying articles comprises a conveying surface, baffles for orienting the articles as they pass along the conveying surface into columns and a controller for selectively permitting articles from one of the columns to pass further along the conveying surface.

  • Patent number: 4473027
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for enrobing frozen novelty confectionaries, such as ice cream products. The products are passed beneath a waterfall of the enrobing material, with the conveying mechanism separating rows of confectionaries and aligning them with dams in the waterfall to avoid covering the stick portion of the novelty. Conveying apparatus for the novelties is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4175670
Abstract: In an easily hand-held metal container construction for containing a product under pressure wherein the container construction has an outwardly convex bottom wall and an adjoining side wall defined as a single-piece structure with the side wall terminating at a top portion adapted to have a top closure fixed thereon, the improvement wherein the downwardly convex bottom wall has a plurality of integral feet supporting the container construction thereon, each of the feet being defined by a downwardly convex dimple having a base portion provided with an outer periphery, a rounded outer portion, and a wall thickness which is substantially the same thickness as the remainder of the bottom wall, and each of the dimples having a central axis and the outer periphery of its base portion disposed radially inwardly from the side wall by a distance at least equal to one half the minimum dimension across the outer periphery measured through the central axis.

  • Patent number: 4054229
Abstract: A container is provided and comprises a deformable metallic container body adapted to contain a product therein and having a bottom wall and a side wall which has an a tubular upper portion terminating in an open end and a deformable metallic closure for said container body. The closure has a main body portion adjoined at its outer edge by an annular flange with the flange having a roughly U-shaped cross-sectional configuration defined by a bight with an inner leg portion and an outer leg portion extending from opposite ends of the bight; and, the inner leg portion adjoins the main body portion and the outer leg portion is disposed radially outwardly of the open end and terminates therebeneath.

  • Patent number: 3979012
Abstract: A container is provided having a deformable metal container body, adapted to contain a product therein and having a bottom wall and a side wall which has a tubular upper portion terminating in a first circumferential bead defining an open end of the container body. A deformable metal closure for the container body is provided and the closure has a main body portion adjoined at its outer edge by an annular flange which has a generally U-shaped cross-sectional configuration defined by a bight with an inner leg portion and an outer leg portion extending from opposite ends of the bight and the inner leg portion adjoins the main body portion and the outer leg portion terminates in a second circumferential bead. An annular indentation is provided in the inner leg portion of the flange and the tubular upper portion beneath the first bead with the annular indentation providing a seal between the closure and container body.
