Patent number: 8418645Abstract: The present invention relates to a doctor device for metering and/or leveling a liquid to pasty medium applied to a moving surface, the surface in the case of direct application being a paper, board or other fibrous web and in the case of indirect application being the surface of a transfer element which transfers the medium to the fibrous web. The doctor device includes a cylindrical metering rod and a pressure tube, with which the metering rod can be pressed against the moving surface for the purpose of metering and/or leveling the medium applied. Additionally, the doctor device is of modular design, having a top part and a bottom part, the top part being provided with a first holder for holding the pressure tube, and the bottom part being provided with a second holder for holding a clamping tube.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2006Date of Patent: April 16, 2013Assignee: Voith Patent GmbHInventors: Christoph Henninger, Horst Kaipf, Eckard Wozny, Martin Schaubmaier, Michael Heitzinger, Rüdiger Keinberger

Patent number: 7669550Abstract: A device for applying a medium in the form of a liquid or a paste to a moving substrate, the substrate being a surface of a web of paper, a paper board, fibrous material and/or a transfer element including an application chamber, a first element, a second element and at least one limiting element. The first element is associated with the application chamber on an output side of the application chamber in a direction of movement of the moving substrate. The second element is associated with an input side of the application chamber. The at least one limiting element is associated with a lateral end of the application chamber. The at least one limiting element adjusting a width of application of the medium on the moving substrate. The at least one limiting element having a flexible sealing plate that substantially seals a space between the moving substrate, the first element and the second element.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 2005Date of Patent: March 2, 2010Assignee: Voith Patent GmbHInventors: Christoph Henninger, Horst Kaipf, Martin Schaubmaier, Michael Heitzinger, Ruediger Keinberger

Patent number: 7445693Abstract: Two axially parallel rolls are pressed against each other in a device for producing and/or treating a moving material web. Sensor elements are arranged in the force transmission path running from the force-producing elements via the rolls, outside roll bodies of the two rolls. As a result of displacing the sensor elements out of the roll bodies of the rolls, the production of the rolls is less complicated and less expensive. No sensors have to be embedded in the roll bodies, which opens up the possibility of using standard rolls. In addition, the occasional grinding of the rolls can in this way be performed without any regard to the sensor elements. Nevertheless, the pressure prevailing between the rolls can continue to be measured directly, since the sensor elements are arranged in the transmission path of the pressing force.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 2005Date of Patent: November 4, 2008Assignee: Voith Paper Patent GmbHInventors: Manfred Ueberschär, Christoph Henninger, Eckard Wozny, Horst Kaipf

Publication number: 20060243201Abstract: A doctor bed formed as a profiled strip having a continuous groove in the axial direction in order to hold a rotatable metering rod, which can be pressed against a moving surface and which meters and/or equalizes liquid to pasty medium applied to the moving surface. The moving surface, in the case of direct application of the medium, being one side of a paper, board or other fibrous web; and in the case of indirect application, being the surface of a transfer element which transfers the application medium to the fibrous web. Also disclosed is, for the production of the doctor bed, a material or a material combination selected including in a first variant of a homogeneous mixture of 70 to 99.8% polyethylene and 0.2 to 30% by weight of a wax of animal, vegetable, mineral or synthetic origin that is solid or liquid at room temperature.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 28, 2006Publication date: November 2, 2006Inventors: Christoph Henninger, Horst Kaipf, Bernard Fuchs, Martin Schaubmaier, Michael Heitzinger, Rudiger Keinberger

Patent number: 5738726Abstract: A roll doctor assembly as dosing element for a coater serving to coat a traveling web (e.g., paper web) features a rotatable doctor bar (14) that extends transversely across the web width. The doctor bar (14) is fitted in a doctor backing (12). The doctor backing (12) extends as well transversely across the web width. According to the invention, the doctor bar (14; 14'; 14") and the doctor backing (12; 12'; 12") are part of a modular system, so that the doctor bar is exchangeable for another with different outside diameter and, consequently, the doctor backing is exchangeable for another with different bearing diameter. The different doctor backings are adapted to one another to the effect that the axes of rotation of the different doctor bars (14; 14'; 14") assume the same position relative to the support beam (10).Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1996Date of Patent: April 14, 1998Assignee: Voith Sulzer Papiermaschinen GmbHInventors: Horst Kaipf, Christoph Henninger
