Abstract: In a process for the manufacture of brake discs, in particular of ventilated brake discs, a top runner is formed in a top box (cope), from which the brake disc is cast approximately centrally. The molten metal is uniformly distributed using star-shaped riser ribs.

Abstract: A brake disk for motor vehicle disk brakes, comprising a disk rim with at least one friction ring, and an inner cup on which the disk rim is fastened. The disk rim and the inner cup consist of cast materials. In order that the inner cup and the disk rim can be produced more simply and correspond better to the different thermal and mechanical stresses, the inner cup preferably consists of a material of high tensil strength than the material of the disk rim. The disk rim is fastened to the cup by means of ribs provided on the inner cup, the material of the disk rim positively clasping the ribs in a radial direction during casting.

Abstract: A pig iron for the manufacture of brake bodies, specially ventilated brake discs, which poured in cast-iron molds has a tensile strength of at least 250 N/mm.sup.2 and consisting essentially of:carbon in an amount 3.65 to 3.75 weight %;manganese in an amount 0.60 to 0.70 weight %;silicon in an amount not exceeding 2.10 weight %;phosphorus in an amount less than 0.09 weight %;sulfur in an amount less than 0.10 weight %; andiron in an amount 93.26 to 95.75 weight %;said iron having a pearlitic structure and said material when cast in cast-iron molds having a tensile strength of at least 250 N/mm.sup.2.

Abstract: The brake disk device has a cast brake disk with brake plates and a brake sk carrier connected to the brake disk. The carrier has integral connecting parts which are cast into the brake disk in composite casting. The brake disk carrier can consequently be securely connected to the brake disk during casting. Before the casting of the brake disk, it is fitted together with a mold core, the connecting parts of the brake disk carrier protruding into the mold core. The brake disk device can consequently be produced very simply and inexpensively.
