  • Patent number: 4742667
Abstract: An apparatus for packaging a product in containers includes a sterilization station and a conveyor for intermittently conveying containers to the sterilization station. A vaporizing nozzle communicates with a reservoir of liquid disinfectant containing hydrogen peroxide and a source of compressed air. The nozzle is intermittently opened and closed whereby the compressed air vaporizes the disinfectant and a mixture of liquid disinfectant in fine droplets and compressed air is ejected when the nozzle is open. A tube is connected with its intake end at the nozzle and is disposed parallel to the jet emitted from the nozzle. A heater on the tube heats the inner surface of the tube to a temperature that is sufficient high to rapidly evaporate the disinfectant in the mixture. As a result a mixed flow of compressed air and evaporated disinfectant leaves the output end of the tube and enters the container in the sterilization station.

  • Patent number: 4739729
Abstract: A coal-fired steam generator that has a water-steam circulation and a low pressure-heat carrier-circulation which, via a heater that is disposed in the flue gas flow of the steam generator and that has at least one heat transfer surface, absorbs heat from the flue gas flow and conveys this heat to a process that utilizes heat, especially a gas turbine process in conjunction with a coal-combination unit having a steam turbine connected in the water-steam circulation. To optimize the position of the heater for the low pressure-heat carrier-circulation, especially a sodium circulation, there are provided at least two flue gas passes that are connected in parallel with a combustion chamber of the steam generator, whereby the flue gas flow coming from the combustion chamber is distributed to these flue gas passes, at least one of which is associated with a water-steam circulation, while the other is associated with the low pressure-heat carrier-circulation.

  • Patent number: 4587872
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing open-sided V-belts by cutting from a vulcanized, sleeve-shaped roll. The sleeve-shaped roll is disposed over two drivable rollers. A tensioning arrangement which includes one of the rollers has a weight. This weight acts solely on such roller tending to pull this roller away from the other roller. This tensions the roll. When the tensioning force attains a predetermined limit, it is partially counteracted by a force acting in the opposite direction. The counter-acting force is supplied by suitable means. Cutter means are provided for cutting the roll while it is tensioned and the counteracting force is increased by suitable means in dependence upon the number of belts cut from the roll.

  • Patent number: 4586410
Abstract: An apparatus for producing open-sided V-belts by cutting from a vulcanized, sleeve-shaped roll while the roll is being tensioned by being passed over two drivable rollers. By unilaterally pivoting one of the rollers and by providing a stop member which abuts the roll, the roll is tensioned by the desired amount and runs smoothly around the rollers so that an accurate cutting operation can be achieved by cutters.

  • Patent number: 4579930
Abstract: The invention relates to a solvent-free hotmelt adhesive based on polyester polyurethanes which are suitable for the production of composite structures and, in particular, laminated parts for the interior finishing of motor vehicles. The hotmelt adhesive is based on polyester polyurethanes which are obtained by reacting organic polyester polyols and low molecular weight diols as chain-extending agents and which are modified by the incorporation of carboxyl and sulfonate groups. In addition to these modified polyester polyurethanes, the hotmelt adhesive may also contain unmodified polyester polyurethanes and crosslinking agents. The hotmelt adhesive is preferably in the form of a film or an in situ coating on a substrate. The hotmelt adhesive is produced by known processes of the type normally used for producing the known, unmodified polyester polyurethanes.

  • Patent number: 4474096
Abstract: A rotary knife holder for a longitudinal slitter in which a rotary knife disc 8 is displaceable relative to a second rotary knife disc 10, co-operating therewith, by separate pneumatic cylinders 12 and 14 to which air is supplied by a common controllable feed line 26 against a resilient restoring force initially radially and then axially. To achieve instant response, to permit the feed speed and feed force for the cylinder 14 to be as independently adjustable as possible and, in addition, to avoid any slip-stick effect in the axial feed movement, an adjustable reducing valve 38 is connected prior to the cylinder 14. This reducing valve 38 is double-acting and is filled with a damping fluid which, during the feed stroke, is expelled through a throttle member 50 into an air vessel 52.
