  • Patent number: 4777939
Abstract: A retractor which includes a body portion and a side arm portion extending transversely of the body portion. A first hook member is mounted on the body portion and a second hook member is mounted for movement on the body portion between a contracted position adjacent the first hook member and an extended position. The hook members have oppositely directed pivot point portions which engage opposed faces of adjacent vertebrae. The retractor pivots about the pivot point portions.

  • Patent number: 4577628
Abstract: A veterinarian inhalation device for small animals comprising a dome having a first spherically shaped closed end portion and an opposite semicylindrically shaped open end portion and having one or more orifices for the introduction of air, oxygen, nebulized medicine or the like. The dome includes semicircular arcuate ribs which project inwardly into the interior of the dome so as to act as a curtain to aid in maintaining the concentration of any gases which may be introduced into the interior of the dome. The dome may be made of clear, light weight plastic, thus permitting the veterinarian to view the small animal as desired.

  • Patent number: 4404850
Abstract: An instrument used by surgeons to determine the suitability of an aneurysm or vascular clip just prior to its implantation. The primary component of the instrument is a test strip which comprises a first compartment, second compartment, and a tapered channel connecting these two compartments. The first compartment contains a colored fluid and means for forcing the fluid from the compartment into the tapered channel. The clip selected is attached to the test strip over the tapered channel. As the fluid is forced into the tapered channel and reaches the clip, the clip's effectiveness in impeding the pressurized fluid flow is observed. The pressure at which the clip fails is indicated on gauge means.

  • Patent number: 4362118
Abstract: A cast aluminum hatchway cover has projecting hinge structure for mating with a hinge housing part affixed on a hatchway coaming. The hinge is detented for holding the cover in closed, partly open and fully open posture. Self-latching lock structure has a foot operable unlocking lever outside the hatchway and an emergency unlocking lever inside the hatchway. The hinge detenting mechanism comprises cams with mating elements located respectively on the cover and hinge housing part.

  • Patent number: 4343304
Abstract: A veterinary inhalation therapy apparatus for nebulizing the liquid medication used in the treatment of upper respiratory conditions in small animals, such as dogs and cats, confined in a cage or enclosure. The veterinary inhalation therapy apparatus comprises a portable electrically powered air compressor unit, a nebulizing assembly, flexible conduit connecting the air compressor and nebulizing assembly, and means for attaching the nebulizing assembly to a cage or enclosure. The air compressor unit produces a pressurized air flow which passes through the flexible conduit to the nebulizing means. In the nebulizing assembly the pressurized air flow interacts with liquid medication to produce a fine spray of the medication which is passed on into the cage or enclosure to effect inhalation therapy.

  • Patent number: 4169478
Abstract: A surgical head clamp which comprises a framework on which a first head engaging pin member and a rotatable bracket are supported. The axis of the first pin member is the axis of rotation of the bracket. Spaced second and third head engaging pin members are mounted on the bracket and directed toward the first pin member. The first pin member can be advanced axially toward the bracket to cause the pin members to engage the head. The bracket can be locked in selected position and is releaseable to permit turning of the head about said axis without releasing the pin members from the head.

  • Patent number: 4018412
Abstract: An operating table bracket which includes a body having a face which overlies an upper edge of a support bar of the operating table and a locking member mounted for swinging movement and for up and down movement with relation to the body and for engaging an underside of the support bar. A cam operates the locking member. The locking member is mounted on a pivot which is slidable up and down with respect to the body. Initial operation of the cam swings the locking member from a released position to a bracket retaining position in which the locking member loosely engages the support bar but the bracket can be slid along the support bar. Further advance of the cam causes the locking member to rise against the underside of the support bar to lock the bracket on the support bar. An instrument holding means on the body includes a yoke member which is rotatably mounted on the body for swinging about a transverse axis and an instrument support releasably attached to the yoke member.
