Abstract: An intelligent, stand alone print buffer having switch-selectable series and parallel input and output ports. Data transfers between the input and output ports occur under microprocessor control. Control panel switches initiate control functions such as clearing the buffer memory, starting a print cycle, holding further input from the input port, and pausing further output to the output port. Page skipping and page reprinting are controlled by the microprocessor which scans the data stored in the buffer's internal memory to locate page boundries in accordance with operator entered page definition data.
