Patent number: 7284562Abstract: A method of constructing a water-resistant corner for a tent or other fabric structure, and the corner formed therefrom. A protective panel may be laid over a flooring material sheet, and the sheet and the protective panel are folded into a corner. The formed corner may then be turned inside out, so that the protective panel is located on the outside of the newly-formed corner. The protective panel thereby covers the outermost corner of the flooring, and the seam formed at that corner. An interior waterproof layer, such as a waterproof sealing tape, may be attached on the inside of the inverted corner to act as a further moisture barrier.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2005Date of Patent: October 23, 2007Assignee: The Coleman Company, Inc.Inventors: Howard A. Hardee, Suk Keun Yoo

Publication number: 20030019037Abstract: Airbed bedding that fits multiple sizes of airbeds. The airbed bedding includes first and second layers having drawstrings that extend around each corner of the respective layer. The drawstrings include barrel locks, which permit the drawstrings to be cinched and locked into position. The two layers may be used as a fitted cover for the airbed, and a top sheet or cover. To attach the lower layer to the airbed, a user cinches the four drawstrings. The upper layer is then usable as a top cover. For additional security, the drawstrings at the corners of the foot of the top layer may also be tightened around the airbed. The first layer and the second layer may be attached, for example by a zipper, along one edge, usually at the foot of the bedding.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 30, 2001Publication date: January 30, 2003Applicant: The Coleman Company, Inc.Inventors: Susan Michaelis, Howard Hardee, Andrew Metzger

Patent number: 6438774Abstract: A sleeping bag allows users to adjust the bag between a conventional rectangular bag and a narrowed mummy-style bag, thereby adjusting the internal volume of the bag. This allows a user to reduce the inner air space of the bag forming a tapered mummy-style shape for maximum comfort in cold weather. The sleeping bag user may also expand the inner space of the bag into a non-tapered, substantially rectangular shape for maximum comfort and freedom of movement in warm weather. This adjustment may be accomplished quickly and easily via one or more secondary external zippers or a system of toggles and loops, allowing the sleeping bag user to respond to even sudden changes in temperature.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 2000Date of Patent: August 27, 2002Assignee: The Coleman Company, Inc.Inventors: Susan L. Patent number: 6418952Abstract: A tent pole holder includes a first end, a second end, a handle, a partially-cylindrical extension, and an engagement mechanism. The second end may be connected to the first end by a mid-section. The handle may extend between the mid-section and the first end and may have at least one slot. The partially-cylindrical extension may extend between the mid-section and the second end. The engagement mechanism may be located between the mid-section and the second end. The engagement mechanism may include an o-ring recessed in a groove formed along the partially-cylindrical extension. As the partially-cylindrical extension is inserted into a tubular end of the tent pole, the engagement mechanism engages the tent pole. A tent pole foot assembly includes a tent pole, a tent pole holder, and a strap attaching the tent pole holder to a tent through the at least one slot on the handle.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 2000Date of Patent: July 16, 2002Assignee: The Coleman Company, Inc.Inventors: Lauren Worley, Raymond J.
