  • Patent number: 9681094
Abstract: Embodiments obtain a content item representing graphic content suitable for display as part of a shared media event, determine an activity metric for said content item, determine an activity metric for a participant of said shared media event, comparing the activity metric of the content item and the activity metric the participant, cause a display to render the graphic content associated with said content item, and render a representation of said participant. In at least some implementations, the relative displayed positions of said graphic content and said representation of the participant are based on the result of the comparison of the activity metric of the content item and the activity metric the participant.

  • Publication number: 20080294517
Abstract: An advent calendar including a first sheet with a full color customized image and a plurality of apertures. Each aperture is associated with a movable door and the door is fastened to a perimeter of the aperture with a hinge element. A second sheet, including a reduced-color version of the customized image and at least one customized indicia. The first and second sheets are registeringly aligned so that the each of the plurality of apertures fully eclipse one of the customized indicia, such that each customized indicia is fully visible through an aperture when the movable door associated with the aperture is in an open orientation.

  • Patent number: 5925290
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for mixing gas and liquid. An impeller is rotatably mounted inside a draft tube having a constricted section. Rotation of the impeller draws liquid down through the constricted portion of the draft tube. A gas delivery system introduces gas under the surface of the liquid downstream from the constricted portion of the draft tube to entrain the gas in the liquid by a venturi effect. The impeller creates a turbulent gas-liquid mixing zone and also projects liquid radially into the gas as it enters the draft tube. The gas-liquid venturi mixer is particularly suitable for treating industrial and municipal waste water, as well as various other liquids. Gases such as air, oxygen, hydrogen, and the like are efficiently dissolved in such liquids during operation of the gas-liquid venturi mixer.

  • Patent number: 5916491
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for mixing gas and liquid. An impeller is rotatably mounted inside a draft tube. Inlet baffles are mounted adjacent the inlet end of the draft tube in close proximity to the impeller. In addition, outlet baffles are mounted adjacent the outlet end of the draft tube in close proximity to the impeller. Rotation of the impeller draws liquid down through the draft tube and creates vortices which serve to entrain gas into the liquid. The provision of inlet and outlet baffles directly adjacent the rotating impeller produces high gas entrainment and shear rates and improves gas transfer efficiency. The gas-liquid vortex mixer is particularly suitable for treating industrial and municipal waste water, as well as various other liquids. Gases such as air, oxygen, hydrogen, and the like are efficiently dissolved in such liquids during operation of the gas-liquid vortex mixer.

  • Patent number: 5907291
Abstract: An apparatus and method for monitoring conditions of living beings. A telemetry device includes a monitor which monitors at least one physiological condition of a patient. A transmitter transmits data including information on the condition and information identifying the device or patient. A separate receiver is provided for each device to receive the data transmitted. The receiver outputs signals to a processor. The processor extracts the information on the physiological condition and the information identifying the telemetry device. The processor outputs the information in a digital form to a display unit. The display unit displays the information on the physiological condition and the identifying information in a readable form. There is a separate display area for each telemetry device, whereby a plurality of patients can be monitored simultaneously on a real time or a near real time basis.

  • Patent number: 4546766
Abstract: A device for applying a controlled amount of traction to a human body. The device includes an arm one end of which is connected by a harness to a patient for applying traction periodically as the patient pivots the arm and the other end of which is connected by a ratchet assembly to a drag wheel rotatably mounted in a frame. The magnitude of the traction applied is determined by the amount of friction applied to the wheel by a pair of opposed brake pads engaging opposite sides of the wheel. A manual adjusting mechanism is provided for one of the brake pads to set a desired level of traction to be applied by the arm, and a calibrating mechanism is connected to the other brake pad for automatically adjusting the same during operation of the manual adjusting mechanism.
