  • Patent number: 7910518
Abstract: A geometrically shaped solid carrier is provided that improves the performance and effectiveness of an olefin epoxidation catalyst for epoxidizing an olefin to an olefin oxide. In particular, improved performance and effectiveness of an olefin epoxidation catalyst is achieved by utilizing a geometrically shaped refractory solid carrier in which at least one wall thickness of said carrier is less than 2.5 mm.

  • Patent number: 7803957
Abstract: A method for controlling ethylene oxidation uses ethylene and oxygen, in conjunction with a silver based catalyst, a moderator and a co-moderator, to form ethylene oxide. When controlling the ethylene oxidation reaction, the moderator concentration is maintained constant within a comparatively narrow operative concentration range and the co-moderator concentration is varied within a comparatively wider operative concentration range, to optimize a catalyst property such as the catalyst activity and/or the catalyst selectivity.

  • Patent number: 7589217
Abstract: An improved process for the production of maleic anhydride by the catalytic oxidation of n-butane. Maleic anhydride is produced by reacting n-butane gas with oxygen or an oxygen-containing gas, in the presence of a vanadium phosphorus oxide (VPO) catalyst. An improved yield and selectivity in the production of maleic anhydride is attained by the addition of a substantially pure carbon monoxide gas stream in the reactant feed stream. A process is given for the production of maleic anhydride by reacting a combination of gas streams in the presence of a VPO catalyst. The combination of gas streams comprises an n-butane gas stream, an oxygen or oxygen-containing gas stream, and a substantially pure carbon monoxide gas stream. The amount of carbon monoxide present in the combination of gas streams is from about 0.5 volume % to about 6 volume % based on the total volume of the combination of gas streams.

  • Publication number: 20060259807
Abstract: An external data signal serves as the basis for clocking a processor. In particular, a processor clock signal is generated from the external data signal which has a frequency that is an integer multiple of the frequency (data rate) of the external data signal. In this way, metastable conditions arising from different clock signals can be avoided.
