  • Patent number: 6851836
Abstract: A lamp shade which can be folded to reduce its size for shipping, display and storage, having an upper ring, a lower ring, and a number of supports interconnecting, separating and supporting the upper and lower rings. In one embodiment, the supports are separate trapezoid-shaped single piece supports which are disconnected from the rings for collapsing the lampshade. In another embodiment, the supports are separate U-shaped single piece supports which are disconnected from the rings for collapsing the lampshade. In another embodiment, the supports are U-shaped single piece supports loosely attached to the upper ring of the lampshade at the center of each support and which are disconnected from the lower ring for collapsing the lampshade.

  • Publication number: 20040001342
Abstract: A collapsible lamp shade includes a rigid upper structure assembly; a rigid lower structure; a flexible fabric; and, a plurality of plurality of trapezoidal frames. The rigid upper structure assembly includes a rigid upper structure; a plurality of angled arms extending radially inwardly from the rigid upper structure; and a central element. Each angled arm has a first end and a second end. The central element is positioned at a central portion of the rigid upper structure assembly. It secures the first ends of the plurality of angled arms. The second ends of the angled arms have short columns being secured to the rigid upper structure. The short columns are angled upwardly. The flexible fabric joins the rigid upper structure with the rigid lower structure. Each trapezoidal frame has a top parallel edge and a bottom parallel edge. The top parallel edge and bottom parallel edge are joined by side members. The top parallel edge has a notch formed in a section thereof.

  • Publication number: 20030107895
Abstract: The invention is a collapsible lampshade that helps conserve shipping and storage volume. Current invention consists of a rigid upper structures, a rigid lower structure, a flexible fabric joining the rigid upper structure and rigid lower structure, supported by several trapezoidal frames after the lampshade is assembled. Using trapezoidal frames to prop up the fabric, and hence completing the assembly process is easier and faster than other means of propping up and support the tension created by the fabric joining the rigid structures.
