  • Patent number: 4847175
Abstract: A reusable electrophotographic imaging element having a photoconductive surface layer of which the binder resin comprises a crystalline side chain polyester or a block copolyester or copolycarbonate having a crystalline side chain polyester block. The layer has low surface adhesion which improves the transfer of toner images to receiver sheets, improves the cleaning efficiency and prevents or reduces toner scumming on the surface layer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 2, 1987
Date of Patent: July 11, 1989
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
Inventors: Joseph A. Pavlisko, Hsin-Chia Kan
  • Patent number: 4784928
Abstract: Image transfer properties of an electrophotographic imaging element are improved by heterogeneously dispersing, as a separate phase within the photoconductive surface layer of the element, finely divided particles of an abhesive substance which is nonconductive and spreadable and to which toner particles adhere less strongly than to the composition of the surface layer in the abhesive substance. An example of the abhesive substance is a particulate low molecular weight telomer of tetrafluoroethylene.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 2, 1986
Date of Patent: November 15, 1988
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
Inventors: Hsin-Chia Kan, Bruce R. Benwood, William J. Staudenmayer
  • Patent number: 4772526
Abstract: A reusable electrophotographic imaging element having a photoconductive surface layer in which the binder resin comprises a block copolyester or copolycarbonate having a fluorinated polyether block. The layer has low surface adhesion and affords improved transfer of toner images to receiver sheets.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 13, 1987
Date of Patent: September 20, 1988
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
Inventors: Hsin-Chia Kan, Joseph A. Pavlisko
  • Patent number: 4727057
Abstract: A dye-donor element for thermal dye transfer comprising a poly(ethylene terephthalate) support having on one side thereof a dye layer and on the other side a subbing layer and a slipping layer, the subbing layer comprising a random, linear copolyester derived from at least one aromatic dibasic acid and at least one aliphatic diol.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 8, 1987
Date of Patent: February 23, 1988
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
Inventors: Daniel J. Harrison, Hsin-Chia Kan, Noel R. Vanier
  • Patent number: 4717711
Abstract: A dye-doner element for thermal dye transfer comprising a support having on one side thereof a dye layer and on the other side a slipping layer comprising a lubricating material dispersed in a polymeric binder, the lubricating material being poly(vinyl stearate), poly(caprolactone) or a straight chain alkyl or polyethylene oxide perfluoroalkylated ester or perfluoroalkylated ether.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 3, 1986
Date of Patent: January 5, 1988
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
Inventors: Noel R. Vanier, Daniel J. Harrison, Hsin-Chia Kan
  • Patent number: 4717712
Abstract: A dye-donor element for thermal dye transfer comprising a support having on one side thereof a dye layer and on the other side a slipping layer consisting essentially of a lubricating material of a polyethylene glycol having a number average molecular weight of about 6000 or above or fatty acid esters of polyvinyl alcohol.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 3, 1986
Date of Patent: January 5, 1988
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company

  • Patent number: 4601966
Abstract: An electrographic, dry two-component developer composition is disclosed comprising triboelectrically charged carrier particles and oppositely charged toner particles. The toner particles contain, as a binder, an amorphous, random polyester-amide containing amide linkages in the polymer backbone and is derived from certain dicarboxylic acids, compounds containing primary amino groups and compounds containing hydroxyl groups. A process for using the developer composition to form toner image copies of an original is also disclosed.
