Patent number: 11673818Abstract: Provided are a system and a method of treating wastewater. The system includes a wastewater chamber, positive and negative electrode chambers, acid and basic solution chambers and a buffer chamber. The wastewater chamber receives wastewater containing a first ion. The positive and the negative electrode chambers are respectively on opposite sides of the wastewater chamber. The acid chamber is between the wastewater chamber and the positive electrode chamber. The basic chamber is between the wastewater chamber and the negative electrode chamber. The buffer chamber is between one of the acid and the basic chambers and the wastewater chamber, and receives the buffer solution containing the first ion. The interfaces between the wastewater chamber and the buffer chamber and between the one of the acid and the basic chambers and the buffer chamber are ion exchange membranes having the same electrical properties.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2020Date of Patent: June 13, 2023Assignee: Industrial Technology Research InstituteInventors: Guan-You Lin, Yi-Fong Pan, Sin-Yi Huang, Hsin-Ju Yang

Patent number: 11642631Abstract: An ion exchange resin and a method for preparing the same are provided. An ion exchange resin is formed by a composition, and the composition includes a crosslinking agent and an ionic compound with sulfonate ions. The ionic compound with sulfonate ions is formed by reacting an epoxy resin with an ionic monomer with sulfonate ions or an ionic polymer having sulfonate ions. The ionic monomer and the ionic polymer each has a hydroxyl group or an acid group at the ends. The ionic monomer or the ionic polymer is 40 to 80 parts by weight, and the epoxy resin is 15 to 25 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the ion exchange resin. An ion exchange resin with a network structure is formed after the ionic compound with sulfonate ions reacts with the crosslinking agent.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2020Date of Patent: May 9, 2023Assignee: INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH INSTITUTEInventors: Hsu-Tzu Fan, Su-Mei Chen Wei, Yi-Che Su, Hsin-Ju Yang

Publication number: 20220340455Abstract: Provided are a system for treating wastewater and a cleaning method thereof. The wastewater treatment system includes: a wastewater compartment, a first electrode, a second electrode, an acid compartment, a base compartment, an acid supply apparatus, a base supply apparatus, a control apparatus, and a power supply device. During the cleaning process, the power supply device provides reverse potential to the first and the second electrodes. The control apparatus shut off a first channel so that the acid supply apparatus provides an acid solution to the base compartment through a second channel, and shut off a third channel so that the base supply apparatus provides an alkaline solution to the acid compartment through a fourth channel, without shutting off the wastewater treatment system.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2021Publication date: October 27, 2022Applicant: Industrial Technology Research InstituteInventors: Guan-You Lin, Yi-Fong Pan, Sin-Yi Huang, Hsin-Ju Yang

Publication number: 20220203302Abstract: A cassette type electrodialysis unit includes an accommodating box, a filter membrane group and a cover member disposed on the accommodating box. The accommodating box includes a membrane support, a membrane limiting wall and an accommodating opening. The membrane limiting wall is disposed on and surrounds the membrane support to form the accommodation opening. The filter membrane group is disposed on the membrane support and abuts an inner side of the membrane limiting wall, and includes a first ion exchange membrane, a second ion exchange membrane and a spacer disposed therebetween. The cover member includes a main body, an opening penetrating the main body, and a pressing portion. A first side of the main body adjacent to the filter membrane group has a peripheral area and an inner area closer to the opening than the outer area, and the pressing portion is formed on the inner area.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2020Publication date: June 30, 2022Applicant: INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH INSTITUTEInventors: Yi-Tze TSAI, Guan-You LIN, Hsin-Ju YANG
