Patent number: 7696884Abstract: An RFID system comprises an intermediate device that includes a first and second antenna coils connected together in a close loop format. The coils are formed on a flexible substrate that can be folded around a magnetic flux blocker such that one loop is on side of the blocker and the other loop is on the other side of the blocker. The intermediate device can then improve communication between a reader on one side of the blocker and a tag on the other. The coil on the reader side of the blocker can receive RF signals being generated by the reader and convert them to an electrical signal that can be passed to the coil on the tag side of the blockage. The second coil can then generate an RF signal that can be transmitted to the tag.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 2006Date of Patent: April 13, 2010Assignee: Macronix International Co., Ltd.Inventors: Huan-Chin Luo, Lu-Shan Chiang, Ying-Che Lo, Chia-Jui Shen, Po-Chih Lai, Kung-Hua Lee

Publication number: 20080099559Abstract: A dual interface SIM card adaptor is described for use with an existing SIM card slot that provides a dual interface electronic information storage card. The dual interface SIM card carrier comprises a flexible printed circuit board, a mini-sized SIM card, a housing to house the mini-sized SIM card, and a cap to affix the mini-sized SIM card in place. The mini-sized SIM card has dimensions that are less than the dimensions for a typical SIM card. The mini-sized SIM card is separable from a carrier that holds the mini-sized SIM card and an antenna. The adaptor is inserted into the SIM card slot in a mobile handset for contact electronic communication, such as wireless telecom, and for contactless electronic communication, such as public transportation, payment and RFID. Contactless communication can be carried out by RFID, Near Field Communication or bar codes.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 31, 2006Publication date: May 1, 2008Applicant: Macronix International Co., Ltd.Inventors: Ying-Che Lo, Huan-Chin Luo

Publication number: 20070222603Abstract: An RFID system comprises an intermediate device that includes a first and second antenna coils connected together in a close loop format. The first coil can be optimized for communication with a reader, while the second coil can be optimized for communication with a tag. Thus, the dimension of the first antenna coil and the second antenna coil can be completely independent of each other. The intermediate device can be configured such that it can change the direction of the transmission from either the interrogator or the tag, thereby improving communication when the interrogator and tag are not inline.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 20, 2006Publication date: September 27, 2007Inventors: Po-Chih Lai, Chia-Jui Shen, Ying-Che Lo, Huan-Chin Luo, Kung-Hua Lee
