  • Patent number: 4368795
Abstract: A safety automobile is reduced in width compared to conventional vehicles and tapers forwardly to nearly a point to minimize head-on collision danger and provide lateral deflection of the vehicle to left or right on striking an obstruction. A dual power system is provided for maximum economy. A rear wheel electric drive is used for short range in-town operation and a front wheel internal combustion engine drive is employed for long range travel. The two drives are independent and can be employed simultaneously in heavy weather or in off-road situations.

  • Patent number: 4354637
Abstract: Oppositely turning continuously driven front and rear traction wheels are carried on a common frame which is rockable on a transverse axis with respect to wide stance carriage wheels. A hose reel located centrally on the rockable frame is driven in rotation about a vertical axis by a power take-off from the drive of the traction wheels. A reversing weight is held by gravity in a first operative position to depress one traction wheel while elevating the other traction wheel. Following contact with an obstruction, the weight is dislodged and slides to a second operative position for depressing the other traction wheel and elevating the previously depressed traction wheel.

  • Patent number: 4283074
Abstract: A front wheel drive narrow track passenger and/or cargo vehicle possesses some of the maneuverability of a motorcycle while providing the comparative safety and greater utility of a four wheeled automotive vehicle. Steering and tilting of the vehicle is counteract centrifugal force on curves is under control of a universally movable lever resembling an aircraft joy stick. A vehicle main frame forms a peripheral buffer around the entire vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4230275
Abstract: A wheeled irrigator carriage has a fulcrum around which a piping frame can rock at the ends of crop rows to lift one traction wheel of the irrigator and lower a second traction wheel at the other end of the irrigator into driving engagement with the ground. The second traction wheel has a power drive reversing member associated therewith. An independent higher speed power drive for the first-named traction wheel is provided. The piping frame also serves to deliver irrigating water from a remote source to a pair of spaced irrigation booms on the piping frame which may span several rows of crops. A massive hose reel is supported symmetrically above the fulcrum.

  • Patent number: 4185774
Abstract: An irrigation boom of sufficient length to span a plurality of crop rows has multiple angularly adjustable dual valved water distributors along its length and is carried on a utility platform which mounts a self-contained power drive means for dual traction wheels of the irrigator and a hose reel which supplies water to the boom from a remote source. A forward guidance and stabilizer wheel follows small furrows produced by a furrow former ahead of such wheel and a trailing steering arm carries a shoe which follows in the small furrows rearwardly of the furrow former and rimmed guidance wheel.

  • Patent number: 4119272
Abstract: A self-contained and self-propelled irrigation apparatus for row crops embodies a comparatively short closed end apertured irrigation boom which receives water through the tubular shaft of a hose reel mounted on the boom. The boom and hose reel are carried by a wheeled support which includes widely spaced traction wheels and a center stabilizing wheel. A platform on the boom mounts an engine and drive trains for the traction wheels and hose reel.

  • Patent number: 4103494
Abstract: Booms are pivotally anchored to the ocean floor and have their angularity adjusted so that float operated power generating mechanisms on the booms are positioned at all times at optimum attitudes in relation to waves and the incoming or outgoing tide. The reaction faces of floats are arranged so that the resultant forces of wave and tide component forces act on the floats in an optimum direction so that the maximum usable energy can be derived by the mechanisms from the waves and tidal flows. The float operated mechanisms convert linear movements of the floats into rotational movements of shafts which can be coupled to power generating devices.
