  • Publication number: 20240084079
Abstract: Disclosed herein are processes for producing metal-organic framework (MOF) materials (e.g., ZIF-67), as well as MOF-coated light emitted diodes (LEDs). The process for producing ZIF-67 nanoparticles includes (a) mixing a solution of cobalt(II) hexahydrate and a solution of 2-methylimiazole to give a first mixture solution; and (b) let the first mixture solution stand for a sufficient period of time to allow the growth of the ZIF-67 nanoparticles. The process for producing a ZIF-67-coated light emitted diode (LED) includes (i) dispersing the ZIF-67 nanoparticles in a poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) solution to form a ZIF-67@PMMA slurry; and (ii) applying the ZIF-67@PMMA slurry onto the surface of an LED in a dropwise manner to give the ZIF-67@PMMA-coated LED.

  • Publication number: 20240052481
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of forming origami 3-dimensional (3D) graphene on a substrate. The method includes steps of, (a) placing the substrate in a reaction chamber; (b) purging the reaction chamber with a flow of a carry gas; (c) providing a flow of hydrogen along with the carry gas into the reaction chamber; (d) elevating the temperature of the substrate tin the reaction chamber to a level that is close to its melting point; (e) providing a flow of a precursor gas to the reaction chamber for a period of time to deposit a flat graphene layer onto the substrate; and (f) cooling the substrate of step (e) to ambient temperature thereby transforming the flat graphene layer into the origami 3D graphene.

  • Publication number: 20220411965
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of producing a substrate having a wrinkle pattern of a single-layer rhenium disulfide (ReS2) nanoflakes deposited thereon. The method is characterized by using ammonium rhenium and sulfur powders as the rhenium source and the sulfur source, respectively; and with the addition of molecular sieve to control the release of the rhenium source during the deposition of ReS2, in which a single layer of ReS2 is deposited on a substrate via chemical vapor deposition. The single-layer ReS2 is then exposed to UV light to induce the formation of a wrinkle pattern.

  • Patent number: 7573184
Abstract: A heat retaining sleeve for raising the cold spot temperature of a fluorescent lamp is comprised of a base end, a distal end, and a sleeve body sized and shaped to fit over the end of a fluorescent lamp or lamps where the lamp's cold spot exists. The sleeve creates a heat retaining air gap between the inner surface of the sleeve body and the lamp end or ends with the cold spot, and has sufficient length to so that, when fitted over the lamp end or ends, the cold spot temperature is elevated to a temperature that increase the lumen output of the fitted fluorescent lamp or lamps.

  • Patent number: 7329022
Abstract: An improved small profile hanger system for ceiling suspended lighting fixtures comprises a plurality of hanger assemblies having a support stem and a downwardly arced crossbar. The support stem and crossbar have a relatively small elliptical profile have two sets of wire holes, each set of wire holes having an inner hole and an outer hole overlapping the inner hole, the inner and outer holes defining an intervening gap narrower than the dimension of either hole. The holes are sized to receive an insulated wire; the intervening gap preventing the wire from crossing over into the adjacent hole. The wire holes of the support stem are in communication with the wire holes of the crossbar providing a fully enclosed wiring passage from a ballast box assembly installed above a suspended ceiling to energize a lamp in a diffuser depending from a pair of the crossbars.

  • Patent number: 6709131
Abstract: A luminaire has a brightness reduction cover element below and in proximity to the active light source of the luminaire to simulate a larger light source having a lower surface brightness which is exposed through the luminaire's down light opening. For example, where the luminaire has a high output T5 lamp, the brightness reduction cover element can be in the form of a substantially semi-cylindrical opal diffuser cover strip sized to simulate a T8 or T12 lamp. An opal diffuser cover strip having two side-by-side arcuate portions joined at opaque interior edges can be positioned under two side-by-side T5 lamps to simulate side-by-side T8 or T12 lamps.

  • Patent number: 6273592
Abstract: A luminaire 11 has baffle elements 31 in the down light opening of the luminaire's housing 15 for shielding the luminaire's light source 27 from direct view at normal viewing angles S. The bottom edges 51 of the baffle elements are provided with visual accent areas 55 which, at shielded viewing angles, exhibit relatively high observable brightness as compared to the relatively low observable brightness of the baffle elements' reflective surfaces 53. The visual accent area of the baffle elements is relatively small as compared to the baffles' reflective surfaces so as to produce a visual accent without visual discomfort associated with direct and reflected glare.

  • Patent number: 6056416
Abstract: An indirect luminaire having a housing with a top opening and a light source in the housing is provided with an exposed lens reflector system positioned over the top opening of the housing for receiving and redirecting source light from a position above the light source. The lensed reflector system includes an outer refracting lens element having a lens surface observable from below the luminaire and a substantially diffuse reflector substrate for the lens element. This system produces a light distribution pattern substantially governed by the internal reflection and refraction characteristics of the lens element and controlled brightness characteristics on the observable lens surface substantially governed by the diffuse reflection characteristics of the reflector substrate. A lens tower is suitably provided for holding the lensed reflective system in its operative position over the top opening of the luminaire housing.

  • Patent number: 5440470
Abstract: A luminaire, such as an indirect linear luminaire, is provided with a floating reflector assembly tied directly to securement points in the luminaire housing. The reflector assembly has a reflector element with tie down openings which overlay the reflector securement points and compliant spring-like retaining clips which overlap the tie down openings and which are secured at their center portion to the underlying securement points by a screw fastener. The width of the retaining clips are narrower than the tie down opening such that the center portion of the retaining clips can be drawn into and contact the housing securement points to provide good electrical grounding. The pressure contact of the retaining clips holds the reflector down yet permits it to float within the housing when the housing is distorted, such as by twisting, thereby avoiding distortion of the reflector.
