  • Publication number: 20160055379
Abstract: Methods are described for presenting in an user interface information regarding the subject faces that will appear in upcoming images. In general, many of the images available to display will be comprised of images containing subject faces. Based on a subject affinity score between the viewer and the subjects, an image affinity is computed. Based on the image affinity scores, images are selected for presentation on the display. As images are displayed, the system analyzes one or more upcoming images to determine information to display. As each image is displayed, subject information comprising the subject's face is presented in an area of the display adjacent to the current image.

  • Publication number: 20160019413
Abstract: Method and device are described for customizing the content selection to present on a display device based on identifying the viewer of the device. In one embodiment, the present disclosure relates to selecting from among a group of digital images, those images that are most likely to be of interest to the viewer. In general, many of the images available to the display device will be comprised of images containing subject faces. Using the relationship information to predict subject affinity, the display device computes an image affinity for each image by accumulating the individual subject affinity predictions between the viewer and each subject identified in each image. The image affinities are used to select images for presentation on the display device.

  • Patent number: 8958650
Abstract: Apparatus are described for performing an action based on determining that the contents of a first image collection and a second image collection are similar. In one aspect, the present disclosure relates to comparing digests representing the two image collections to determine proximity. The digest may be obtained and the comparison made at a server. The actions performed based on a proximity determination may comprise notifying a user of a first collection sharing device of the availability of a second collection sharing device, and/or the retrieval of one or more images from the second image collection. In another aspect of the present disclosure, proximity may be measured by comparing subject faces present in a first image collection to subject faces present in the second image collection.

  • Patent number: 8630494
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer readable medium are described for performing an action based on determining that the contents of a first image collection and a second image collection are similar. In one aspect, the present disclosure relates to comparing digests representing the two image collections to determine proximity. The digest may be obtained and the comparison made at either a collection sharing device or at a proxy server. The actions performed based on a proximity determination may comprise notifying a user of a first collection sharing device of the availability of other collection sharing devices, or the retrieval of one or more images from the other image collections. In another aspect of the present disclosure, proximity may be measured by comparing subject faces comparing in a first image collection to the faces present in a second image collection.

  • Patent number: 8005889
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer program products for synchronizing digital photo albums at peer servers with a proxy server and a guest content server in a photosharing peer-to-peer network are provided such that the proxy server and guest content server can serve content to requesters from photo albums of an off-line peer server. A synchronization manager receives a request from a peer server to synchronize image files of one or more photo albums at the peer server with image files cached on the proxy server. The synchronization manager directs a web robot to crawl the URL of each photo album identified in the request and to identify image files at the peer server that have been modified and/or that are not currently cached on the proxy server. The web robot also identifies non-image files associated with each image file. The web robot retrieves and caches identified image files on the proxy server. The web robot retrieves and caches identified non-image files on the guest content server.

  • Patent number: 7970854
Abstract: A method and system for requesting prints of digital images displayed online is disclosed. The present invention provides a network-based photosharing system that includes a plurality of peer nodes that contain images and that are capable of communicating with other peer nodes. The method and system include allowing a user of a first one of the peer nodes to invite at least one visitor to view images hosted on the first peer node, and allowing the visitor to browse the images on the first peer node and to select one or more images to print by filling-out a print request form that identifies only the visitor and the selected images. The method and system further include notifying the user of the submission of the print request form, wherein once notified, the user accesses the print request form, prints the selected images, and delivers the prints to the visitor.

  • Patent number: 6097431
Abstract: A method and system for reviewing and navigating through images displayed on an image capture unit is provided. A method and system includes displaying images in a predetermined number of group types. Each of the group types indicates a number of images to be displayed at a time. The number of images displayed at a time being a page of images. The method includes selecting one group type from the predetermined number of group types and navigating through a plurality of images within the group type through the use of a highlighting area surrounding an image to be selected. Finally, the method and system includes selecting a particular image within the group type based upon the highlighted area. In one aspect, the method and system includes a four-way button to facilitate ease of movement between an image or cell and between pages of images. It also includes a mode button which allows for movement between group types and a view button to facilitate selection of a particular image.
